I am about to have my 2nd baby and I do not need a twin stroller, I need a double stroller for a toddler and a newborn. They will be about 20 months apart. Which ones fold up easily, are not too heavy, etc? Which ones would you moms recommend? thanks

What can I do next?

I was in the same situation and I got the Joovy Tandem stroller and LOVE it! You can look them up on their website www.joovy.com. They BabyTrend also has one, but read that Joovy was better quality, etc. My 2 yr old can sit or stand on the back, and rarely does either one, but the option is there for her! The new Joovy light is a lot lighter than any of them and folds up very slim - its great!

I have two also- 22 months apart- I got he Graco Quatto Tour Duo, it's the new double from Graco. It folds wonderfully, is the only double that I could find that would fit into the trunk of my saturn... And it drives like a single stroller. Some of the older ones are beasts to steer around! The only downside, is that it is just a little on the heavy side. But it's worth it to me!
Toddler or infant can sit in either seat, it doesn't matter- which is nice! And the other thing is that a lot of double strollers are really hard to steer when there is just one kids... this one is easy if one of them gets out!

Get a Graco that will hold the infant carrier in the back and your son can ride up front. Do not get a wide one, those are a pain in almost all stores. The Graco double strollers hold the infant carrier first then it turns into a double stroller with a seat. It folds up great but it is kind of big, you cannot avoid that. It isn't too heavy either and you can open it with one hand. Both seats when in the seats recline too, have cup holders and a basket underneath for your purse, diaper bag storage.

I have the jovy caboose for my kids who are 24 months apart. The neat thing is that its not much longer or wider then some of the bigger singles, the tray comes off and an adapter piece goes in for the car seat, any car seat will fit in there, and its only around $150. Which is a steal for a double. Just stay away from the side by side, I had a peg perego aria twin, and it was too wide to fit in most of the stores in the mall.

K.,
I have a Phil and Ted's double sport. I love it! It's a little on the heavy side, but the design is awesome! Here is a link to take a look at it.

Good luck with the 2 little ones!

I love our graco duoglider. It's lightweight and folds easily and i feel it is relatively compact for a double stroller. I've had several people say to me, "wow, there's two of them in there!" so it's small. it fits the graco safeseat or the snugride. the only complaint i have is that the belts are the just a lap belt, not the five point harness. my kids are 14 months apart and i think it works well for both my toddler and the baby, so far anyway!

Hi K.! I am actually selling a Peg Perego Double Tender Stroller on Craig's List right now ($100). They are top of the line...a little bulky, but very nice. This one has a few scratches on the handle, but a steal on the price.

Just let me know if you are interested in some pictures, etc.

Take care,
C.

We have the Graco Quattro Tour Duo Stroller and I love it. It holds up to 50 lbs on each seat which is great and all Graco carseats fit. It has good storage space, each child gets 2 cupholders and a sunshade. The parents also get 2 cupholders. Its very easy to steer with just one or both kids in it.I can actually steer it one handed and fold with just one hand. Also it folds 20 percent smaller than a regular double stroller. that's a plus because I have a smaller car. Its pricier, about 240.00 at Babies R Us.
I originally got the Joovy Stand On Tandem and it broke! Not something small either, the leg broke above the wheel while my son was in it! I had taken the baby out and we were just on a sidewalk at it just snapped. I only had it a month and luckily still had the receipt and returned it. Another thing I didn't like about that one is that it was a pain to fold and get into my car and the carseat didn't lock in, there was a little seat belt that held the carseat. If the carseat wasn't placed just right, the clip wouldn't latch and there was no way to make it tighter or looser it was just one length.

P.S. My son is 4, but still loves the stroller, and I like him in there also!

I was in the same boat as you are not long ago! I have a 22-month-old daughter and my son is now 8 weeks old (20 months apart). After much consideration and a lot of conversations with other moms of two I decided the Phil & Teds sport with double attachment was the best fit for us. It's great stroller because it's not bulky, easy to get through doorways and it grows with our kids (3 different position options allow for it to work as a single stroller, an infant-toddler stroller, or a toddler-toddler stroller). We are a pretty active family so it works well for our StrollerFit classes, going to the zoo and going for long walks. The only cons I see about it are: a bit tedious getting it up and down curbs with 2 kids in it, the brake is a bit hard to set (but loosens up with use), not a lot of storage space below.
Good luck in your quest and congratulations on your upcoming arrival!

I love my Combi Twin Sport. It pushes easily with one hand and fits any where, even bathroom stalls. The only exception is old buildings that are not up to code. Our carrier fits in it just fine. We used to have a front and back one, and traded it for this and would not go back for anything. It's well worth the extra money. Another good option is the Jeep side by side, but it's a bit wider. The Combi folds up easily, although with too hands, and is about the size of an umbrella stroller, plus one wheel. We use ours a lot and love it!

I was recently in your shoes as my sons are 15 months apart. I did a lot of research online, but the decision came down to actually going out and 'test driving' the finialists. Some looked great on paper, but were way too big in real life. We decided on the Graco Quatto Tour Duo because it fit the bucket car seat we already had, and it will fit both boys nicely when the baby is older. It is a bit heavier than our first Graco stroller, but worth it. Good luck!

My kids were a little further apart in age, but I chose the Graco Sit and Stand stroller. It was the same weight, etc. of a single stroller, but my older daughter loved being able to ride in the back standing up.

One Step Ahead has a great double stroller that grows with all your kids. It can click in an infant carrier while the older child can sit in a seat behind, or you can remove the seat and the older child has the choice to sit on the platform or stand on it. It's very well priced, and we love the Elite style.

onestepahead.com check it out! they can be very expensive, and you shouldn't make a choice without seeing this one too.
