Double Stroller Suggestions - Hollywood,FL

Hey everyone! I am soon to be a mother of 3 little girls and need some advice on strollers. I have a 5 yr old and a 21 month old right now. I bought a side by side jogger for trips to the park/zoo/etc. when #2 was born and barely used it. Besides the fact that at the time the then 3 yr old was happy walking most of the time, it was not easy to maneuver in stores/malls/basically any place that was indoors (too wide to fit through most places). Plus, I used my sling most of the time and the oldest one would sit in the single stroller if she wanted a rest.

Fast forward to now... I am pregnant with #3 and due 1 week after the youngest turns 2! My single stroller has seen better days and is pretty worn out (but, I'm still using it today with the 21 month old). I rely on the stroller so much with the youngest right now that I can't imagine not upgrading to a double when the new baby arrives. I have looked briefly into a few of the sit & stand models out there but was hoping for suggestions from anyone who has the same/similar situation.

Thanks so much!
-D.

My girls were not quite two years a part and I managed fine with a cheap umbrella stroller. We went to the parks, zoo, fairs and everything with no problems. My oldest walked along beside the stroller. If she got tired of walking we stopped and rested a bit.

Our son was 25 months when our daughter came along.

I love our Joovy caboose! Light weight for putting in the car and folds down fairly small for a double!

I was in love with the Graco Quatro Tour Double until I tried to put both kids in it in the store. Not enough space for the older child. And it's huge!

I bought the extra cup holder for the Joovy that slides over the handle. Seems a bit cheesey at first but I was glad to have it.

I never had any problems and never regretted our purchase.

I love my Maclaren twin Traveler (Techno nowdays) It's compact, comfy for the kids as well as for parents, fits through the doorways. The only downfall you can not use it with the infant car seat (it fully reclines for the infant though). If you are petit and your 2 year old is on the small side Combi double might be a good choice. I really liked what it has to offer but being 5'8 the handle was too short for me and with my giant kids(off the charts from birth) their legs already were too close to the ground by the time they turned 2. We have gone through many double strollers......had some tandem ones(front to back seats) and it just did not work for us)
You might want to take a trip to the baby store and check some out:)

my second was born when my first was 21 months old. i did a lot of research and spoke with many people, and i decided on the baby jogger citi mini double. i love it. it's super easy to maneuver and folds up incredibly easily for going into and out of cars. it fits through standard size doorways and is good for newborn up to i think 60 pounds. the seats go from complete recline to upright. i love it. good luck!

I just got rid of my sit and stand because my husband was the only one who could push it! We just bought a Eddie Bauer Tandem stroller and LOVE it. It folds up to the size of an umbrella and is almost as light! I am a few days away from having my 4th so we've been through a lot of doubles and this one is by far the best! Super easy to push also!

First of all congratulations on you baby, I hope everything goes well with your family.
Since you mentioned jogger stroller I would like to recommend one that my friends use and it is very good (although pricey): VALCO BABY RUNABOUT. The instructor in our Stroller Strides class has 3 kids (ages 6, 3 and 6mo) and told me it was very useful in the beginning (since the 6 year old was around your son's age when her baby was born).

I also love the fact that it is very compact and the baby can sleep tight on the back seat while the toddler can sit in the front exploring everything.
Best of luck!

I have 3 kids 5, 3 and 8 weeks. When my 2nd was born I bought a graco double stroller and loved it. Now with the oldest still wanting to sit at some point, I bought a sit and stand and it works very well. I have traveled with it (San Diego and LA from FL) and just quickly take the back seat out to make the stand part. I put the infant seat in the back (there is an attachment for the front but I just put the seat flat and the carrier there) and if either girl wants to sit in front it is a little tougher to turn but still can be pushed. Of course at 45 and 27 pounds if either girls sits in most strollers it will be harder to turn.

The sit and stand folds pretty small for a double, rolls easy when folded and actually has quite a bit of room for storage. We have taken it everywhere, Disney, plane, car...and it still works well. :-)

I would go to a store and try them out though and bring your infant carrier so you can test it out with you kids, fold it up, roll it...my husband had a ball testing stuff before we bought it! :) Good luck!

I have had a double since my 2nd was born--my kids are now 4, 3, 2 (tomorrow), and 4 months. I've brought them with me EVERYWHERE in it!!! I just have a Graco one that I got at Babies 'R' Us. It's doesn't fold up really tiny nor is it the lightest, but it's been just fine for me. I do like that the infant carrier snaps right on it, and that both tray have snack/drink holders for the kids. That's why my kids have been so well-behaved everywhere--it's amazing how dry cereal and a cup of water will keep them so occupied!

With my son being almost 2, I wouldn't dream of using a sit and stand. I don't know what your almost-2-year-old is like, but mine would not stay on one! And with 4 kids 4 and under, I need to make sure he's safe when I go somewhere and get distracted!

Best wishes to you!

I have an almost 3 y/o and a 1 y/o. I watched my old neighbor fight alot with her graco double as it always was falling apart. I have seen alot of strollers and I chose the Kolcraft contours double stroller. you can switch the sets around all dif ways, you can use it with an infant carrier and it looks nice as well. My husband likes it because it doesn't look 'mom'ish'. We paid $220 new at babies r us. I would hunt down one of those 15 -20% off coupons and get it cheaper. You can come by Wellington and take a look and see what you think. I HIGHLY recomend it to everyone! Fits in my car nicely too!
