I'm pregnant with my first and I just read about doulas and midwives and I think I might be interested in using a doula, or both. I'm really into the whole natural childbirth idea. Does anyone knows how I can get some information about doulas or midwives in my area? I live in NE Tarrant County, Texas. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

I have a wonderful friend who is a doula and soon-to-be-midwife. She has worked with several midwives in the area including Gentle Beginnings. Please feel free to contact her and talk about any question or anything at all:

I am not sure how you get the information other than to google it. I had a midwife with my last pregnancy (my son is now 2) and I went to Gentle Beginnings in Hurst and my mid-wifes name was Anne. She was incredible, sweet, compassionate, and just made me feel comfortable at all times. I will say that it was the best experience or as best as birthing could be. I had 2 hospital births many years ago and the whole experience at a hospital was not near as pleasurable. It is amazing how being able to labor in water just calms you. If you are a healthy female, I would totally recommend it. Best of luck with your pregnancy.

Ann at Gentle Beginnings is marvelous. She was our midwife for our first daughter and we are using her again right now. The website for their facility is http://gentlebeginningsbc.com/. I've spoken to a few of the other midwives there, and they are all very nice. One of the great things about their center, is that the chiropractor's office is right next door. The chiro's there do family health, so are very much about pregnant women. I don't know how I would make it through my pregnancies w/o their help!

For a doula, check out the site http://dona.org/. You can find a doula close to you. We are using the same one that we used last time, Gina Phillips. She is an absolute wonder. Her website is http://www.connectnaturally.com/

If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. My birth experience is also on Ann's site.
