We are expecting our first child in February and we are starting to register. Which bottles do you prefer-- Dr. Browns or Tommee Tippee? I will breast feed. I've heard great things about both, just don't know which is better. Thanks for your help!!!
I can't give advice on either bottle but I would tell you as a mother who breastfed 2 children. Don't invest a lot in one type of bottle before they are born. It took me at least 6 different bottle to find one my son would take and my daughter would never take one at all.

I used Born Free, which had lots of small parts to wash, and my sister used the Dr. Browns, which had a lot of small parts to wash. They both were good, but we hated washing the small parts. I know you can put them in the dishwasher, but my daughter had to be on soy formula, which is thicker than regular formula and it wouldn't come out in the dishwasher, so we had to wash all the parts by hand. Because of the small parts, I wouldn't use either the Dr. Browns or Born Frees. My daughter would take any bottle that food came out of, so I didn't have issues. We used the Playtex Drop-Ins, which were great when it came to cleaning, especially while traveling. Out of the two your chose, I would go with Tommee Tippee.
Like Jackie B, we adore the First Years Breastflow. We tried the Tommee Tippee which claim to be breast like and found the latch to be completely wrong and the flow way to fast, even in the supposed "slow flow". Our lactation consultants also by far preferred the Breastflow.
I agree with Faith and Gretchen - you just never know so no point in investing a lot of money until you do! Congrats and good luck!!
Dr. Browns are a good one and the Born Free bottles too. I use the glass ones and there great.
tommee tippee - they were the only ones my breast fed baby would take. My issue with doctor browns are that they have a lot of little parts - so washing them is a very time consuming task.
We are breastfeeding and when we needed to supplement at 3 days to 6 days old we used the First Years Breastflow bottles. They worked great for my daughter.
I do agree with the others, don't buy or register for tons as you don't know what baby will take. My daughter hasn't had a bottle since she was 6 days old when my milk came in, so I have tons of brand new bottles left.
I'd agree with Faith. I've had 5 breastfed children and they all preferred different types of bottles and nipples. Of course, you can buy the kind you prefer and try to use it and if you are fortunate, your child will have no problems. But sometimes babies just like different nipples. And I SWEAR no matter how much a bottle promises it's better than any other, a bottle will not keep your child from having colic or stop a child from crying. Those are medical issues that cannot be solved by a bottle. So my advice is: buy what you like but ultimately, your "new boss" may end up telling you to get a different one! LOL
I used Dr. Browns for a while with my second and tossed them. Hated them. They leaked anytime they were inverted, were a pain to wash and prep. I switched back to avent. Since I was BF the bottles were only used at day care and so spillage was detrimental to the day's feedings. I also got feedback from the girls in the center that the dr browns were difficult to pour the thawed milk into from the bags due to the smaller opening. They saw a lot of different brands, so that also impacted my decision.
That said, if I had to do over, I'd use weiler bottles.

It will all depend on what baby prefers. I suggest getting one of each (my child preferred the Avent bottles) and then when baby doesn't eat well from one try a different one.
Our baby really liked the Avent bottles. I don't know if there is such a thing and what qualifies to be the "better" bottle, but if your baby will drink from it that's as good as it gets. I suspect you'll get 100 different answers on what is the better bottle. Just wait until you try to decide what is the "best" sippy!
i've never used tommee tippee but dr. browns had too many pieces. I know it may not seem like much but washing extra parts to a bottle is not what i wanted to spend my time doing.
Dr. Browns bottles are the best. I had a lot of problems with bottles dripping and when I found doctor browns bottles I feel in love with them. They do not have that many washable parts and its not time consuming. I washed and boiled all my bottles everytime I ran out of bottles and it never bothered me. You have the nipple to wash the ring for the nipple bottle and then the vent and thats all. So to me the only thing extra to wash is the two piece vent. I am now on my third girl and expecting in Jan and have used dr brown for all my girls.
