Dry Feet

My feet have been really dry all summer and are just getting worse. My heels are cracking and the skin under my big toes and raw. I go barefoot all the time and really don't want to give that up. Does anyone know of any good remedies for this? Anything I can use that I might have laying around the house?

Total Foot Recovery cream. No, you probably don't have it laying around the house, and I don't know of anything that common that would help. Maybe someone else does. But I am a barefoot mama nearly all year. So I get the super-dry, tough, cracked skin sometimes--especially in the winter, and I think this cream is amazing. I just googled it, and it's all over out there.

I try to use Aquaphilic on my feet, hands, and elbows every night. I can really tell when I've missed a few nights. It is sold over the counter at WalMart. I also use it on my infant and it helps him too. Good luck!

Besides using a soap that isn't drying, (first step!), I have a product that people swear by for their feet. It has only 4 natural ingredients and they put it on at night in bed. It is called a butter bar, like a lip balm for skin. Here is the link: http://www.soapourri.com/shop/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=...

Hi M.! Wash your feet each night with mild soap and water and use COCONUT OIL all over your feet. Put on cotton socks and they will moisturize all night!
Another good solution for dry skin is Emu Oil. It is amazing stuff!
Coconut oil is anti fungal, anti bacterial and has healing properties.
I hope this helps!

Get a container of acne face pads, wipe your feet with them at night, and then slather on a thick lotion before you go to bed. Put socks on so you don't get the sheets icky. I have all the 'ingredients', but just haven't done it yet, but I have cracked heels too. Then, when they are healed, splurge on a pedi!

I have a friend who swears by a foot care product line by Arbonne. I haven't tried it and it's quite expensive.

I don't have a suggestion about something you might have around the house but for seriously cracked feet you can get O'Keefe's working feet lotion (they sell it on Amazon or just google O'keefe's and you'll find it). We gave it to my Dad because his feet get really cracked and painful every winter from working outside so much. He says it works wonderfully and we've purchased more for this winter.

Hi M.:
I love going barefoot too. I have a callus scraper that I picked up at Dollar Tree and it works great. The cracked skin can be caused by a fungus infection, soak your feet in vinegar water for about a half hour a day for about a week. You can also use just plain vaseline on your feet and put on socks let it soak in for a few hours. Walgreens has this stuff called Bag Balm it's great stuff. I don't know how it works but it does it heals dry cracked skin, burns, diaper rash. When I go out to to yard work I will put either vaseline or Bag Balm on my feet and then heavy socks then when I am done with my yard work and ready for a shower my feet are nice and soft.

Try an anti-fungal (Tinactin, Lotrimin, etc.). Using a pumic stone will help, too, but cracked heels are usually a sign of a fungal infection.

I really struggle with this as well and feel like I have tried every cream, serum, and lotion available. I use the Ped Egg and that helps but the cracks still happen and walking can be quite painful. Looking forward to reading others responses.

Use the Stridex pads (the one for acne)on your feet where they are driest, or all over, then follow with a slathering of a heavy cream like a mixture of petroleum jelly and lotion. I use Aquaphor. Put on a pair of socks and go to bed. I promise you will have soft feet in a week or two.

I put vasoline on my feet and wrap them in saran wrap then put socks on. The saranwrap keeps the moisture in and the socks keep the warmth in. Not so much fun on a warm night, but it works! Good luck!

I use ped egg to get all the dry skin off and then either put vasaline on my feet and then put on socks over nite or use this cream from Bath and Body Works for feet. I also have used Kerasal which is sold OTC at Walgreens and most major retailers.

I had the same exact problem. I tried everything & nothing really worked for me. So, I finally called my Dr and she gave me a prescription for LAC-HYDRIN cream. Wow, what a difference. I only use it as needed and it doesn't leave a greasy film on your feet. I can't believe I suffered years with cracked heals and feet and now they are normal.

I would highly recommend talking to your dr.

GOOD LUCK!!!

I love using Ped Egg - on dry skin. I don't think it works as well in the tub. It doesn't feel like you're getting much dead skin off, but by the time you're done, you'll see inside the egg how much dead skin actually comes off. It's amazing!

Once I'm done with the Ped Egg, I put on Philosophy Soul Owner foot cream & a pair of socks.

Your feet will be soft in no time!

Aquaphor is pretty amazing. First, take a shower, and use a pumice stone on your feet to scrub off some of the dead skin. After your evening shower, when your feet are still damp, slather them in Aquaphor and put on socks, and sleep in the socks. Do this every night and you'll see a difference in just two days.

I saw a video on Oprah's website that said you should wipe your feet with clearasil wipes (that have salicylic acid), and then put on the Aquaphor. Apparently the wipes will break down the dead skin or something. I've been thinking about trying it, but haven't yet.

I find my feet get really dry after a day on the boat - I will use a pumice stone in the shower and then put aquaphor on with socks. They are usually soft by the next morning. I even put it on during the day under my nylons or trouser socks. It keeps them nice and soft!
