Hi R.,
I'm sorry to hear what you are going through. I had CVS (chorionic villi sampling) which has higher risk since it is done earlier than amnio. Everything was fine. There is some likelihood, in my mind, not professionally, since your baby has genetic issues, however, that it may abort after the procedure. We did CVS because of some very high risk factors due to my age and because I had a threatened miscarriage, the stress was eating away at me and I was worried that not knowing was causing more harm than good as I simply could not calm down.
I guess the question you need to ask yourself is whether you need to know, how you would proceed if there was a problem again, that sort of thing. I personally needed to know if the baby was ok, or not, so that I could proceed from there. Once you know, there are obviously two choices, both of which are difficult but at least you can make a decision just as you have done. When I look at what you've said, I think you've decided it doesn't matter, you are going to carry the baby. One question I have too, that you may want to ask your doctors, is can't they test afterwards, ie. the placenta?
Whatever you decide, I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
