Hi P.! Try looking on www.arbonne.com and look at their baby line. I've heard from several people who have kids with eczema that the baby line works wonders!

While some topical creams (medicinal & homeopathic alike) do help with symptoms, I have a whole-food nutrition product that has been helping people with excema, which seems to suggest that nutrition plays a key role. You might want to get him tested for food allergies or food intolerances. Gluten and Milk can cause exzema. Food intolerances are different than food Allergies. They are tested for differently. My daughter is intolerant of Milk but not allergic to it. My son with gluten. Both have eczema.

Hi P., as much as I'd like to tell you I found the cure for eczema (especially this time of year when it likes to rear its ugly head) what I can tell you has worked very well for me is using Eucerin. In fact, my pediatrician gave us a prescription for a tincture she later told me I could make at home: equal parts prescription strength eczema ointment, vitamin E oil and Eucerin (he heavy cream $12 at Wal-Mart). I have battled eczema for years and my children have some spots too and this cream literally shows exemplary results within hours. I liked it so much I just started halving the big jar (saving an old one to use for the other half of the new one, you follow?) and making two of the cream to use as all over body cream right out of the tub. It prevents flare ups. The real culprit though, I've learned often times is dietary. Reduce sugars and yeasty stuff from their diets, even dairy too and you should see fewer incidences of the dry and itchies. Hope this helps!

My daughter has it and we use Aveno Eczema Treatment body wash and lotion. You can find it at Walgreen's with the skin ointments and things like that. It is a bit pricey but it has worked for her. The main thing to do is keep him as clean as possible and his skin moisturized as much as possible.

We give our six year old Aloe juice to drink each day and he has not had any more problems with eczema. The doctor wanted to put him on a steroid prescription along with a steroid cream, but we were not open to that and wanted a better option. The Aloe juice works great! You can purchase it at GNC or any health food store. There are some with flavors or if you purchase one that does not taste the best you can mix it with juice. Hope this helps!

Might want to see Dr. Karen Marshall. She deals w/ alot of this type of thing and goes the natural route. In addition, diet can play a part. There is a healthy high antioxidant chocolate that people have eaten and gotten RID of the eczema. One gal, I know, was eating it for her cancer issues and her eczema went away. Eczema is very well treated with aloe juice. Eczema needs to be treated from the inside. Make sure the juice is concentrated enough. You can go to this website, they have a really great one that is strawberry/kiwi flavor, my kids really love the taste. www.marketamerica.com/W.
He will only need one ounce a day, in the evening. Plus this will help if he is having any bowel issues.

I used chamomile tea for my eczema. What you do is fix the tea let it stand for about 5 minutes. Take the tea bag out let it cool a little and then use a washcloth or two and stick into the tea, ring it out a little and put it on the infected area. It is also great on bumps,broses,scraps,cuts, etc. It helps with the healing time and most of the time after the area heals you don't even have a scare. Good luck.

Maybe it's already been suggested, but Aveeno (it also comes in a generic brand) has an oatmeal bath. It's a non-soap alternative and it's soothing for your skin.
My oldest gets eczema this time of year and my youngest is sensitive to perfumes and dyes, so it works on both of them.
Speaking of soap, I find it to be the culprit sometimes and if you haven't ruled it out yet; you could check on your laundry soap, fabric softener and bath soap.
Another culprit is dry heat. I have not tried this personally (played with the idea), but maybe a home humidifier might help.
Aquafor also does wonders, but he may not like the feel of it. Our kids pediatrician uses Crisco on his kids. But again, there's that greasy feeling.

my daughter has this and unfortunately she gets it BAD. her flare ups get so bad she scratches until she bleeds sometimes. i havent found any homeopathic treatments that worked for her. i had to take her to the doctor for hers but he gave me a MIRACLE cream! this stuff is amazing. nothing gets rid of eczema, but this cream diminishes the flare up so theyre almost non existent! its a prescribed cream so not OTC but i would definitely ask your doctor what to do about it. hope this helps!

My son used to get pretty bad eczema spots on his legs. I used calendula cream from California Baby and it worked great!

Hi P., not sure if you found your "trick" to control the eczema-If you're still looking for a natural treatment-my 17 month old developed some patches on her skin starting a few months ago-we purchased a container of Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil (unrefined) at the Vitamin Shoppe. I massage the oil in her skin daily-she has not had any issues since.

Skin conditions are tricky. Very often they are triggered from something in the diet. My advice is to start there. Be sure your son is taking a children's vitamin, eats a healthy diet free from fast food and packaged snacks. You may indeed see these problems go away on their own without going though extensive tests that are inconclusive. I was there for years, and with a diet change, increased vitamins and soy protein, my skin problems vanished in just 3 weeks. Previously I went to allergists and dermatologists for 4 years. They put me on dangerous steroids to handle the symptoms. Now my skin is free and clear. No drugs or creams.

both of my daughters suffer from eczema pretty badly and I have found an Eczema baby line by disney gentle naturals. My 2 1/2 year old has it only on her arms also. She has a dairy allery though. I finally took her to the dermatologist after the pediatrician gave us three different types of creams/lotions. The derm gave her some prescription ointment and this sample of CeraVe. This stuff is fabulous. I had to order it from the pharmacy, but I believe CVS may have it in the store. Wal-mart ordered a 12 oz bottle for $13.00 and within 3-4 days the itching stopped and her arms are finally coming back to normal.. Try it!

Hi P.. When my daughter was little, she had eczema pretty bad to where the spots would crack open and bleed. Baths hurt her, the different meds burned and stung her horribly. A doctor told me to try " Aquaphor". Its available at drug stores...Drug Mart is where I get it. Its a petroleum based lotion ( like vasoline)with no fragrence or other chemicals. It would clear her up so fast it was unbelievable! She has since almost grown out of the outbreaks. Hope it works for you. A.

My son also has eczema, something fierce. We get this stuff called smart silver from our homeopathic doctor. It helps heal it up. The down fall is it also dries up surrounding skin. Then we have to try other things to relieve the itch of the healing process and surrounding skin. The homeopathic doctor sent pure vitamin E ointment. But eczema is almost impossible. The silver solution heals up what's there, but doesn't "cure" it from the inside out. He still gets outbreaks. What we end up doing is applying the silver solution up to 2 times a day. At bed time (after bath is best) (we do not bath him everyday) after we apply it, I apply over the counter hydracortizone cream to prevent itching at night. I know...that darn hydrocortizone cream. Probiotics are supposed to help. Go to a natural/healthfood store like Whole Foods and look in the vitamins section. The best are the refrigerated type. You an ask for help, someone usually knows what they are talking about in those stores:)

I'm not sure if it is homeopatic or not bit I've used Aveeno baby soothing relief moisture cream. It seemed to help my daughter. I got mine at walgreens but I think you can get it at walmart as well. Hope this helps!

Try applying organic coconut oil to the affected areas a few times a day. It's really a miracle skin cream! You can buy a 14 oz jar of organic coconut oil at the grocery store, in the cooking oil aisle of the natural foods section for about $6.

I recommend reading the book, THE COCONUT OIL MIRACLE by Bruce Fife. It's full of great information about this wonderful, natural product. My integrative M.D. (blending traditional and holisitc medicine) recommends coconut oil for topical treatment of a lot of conditions, and she also recommends using it as a cooking oil too.

My son is 3 1/2. I have been battling eczema with him since he was 1. His doctor has written numerous prescriptions for cortizone creams, which none worked. She then wrote one for cortizone ointment which seems to help some. I have found if I give him an Oatmeal bath, use Oatmeal lotion and put the cortizone ointment on, it is almost completely cleared up the next day. I use the oatmeal lotion several times a day and the cortizone only after his bath. The cortizone can thin the skin so you want to be careful of using it too often. Also I give him a bath every other day instead of daily. I use Equate (Walmart brand) Oatmeal bath instead of Aveeno, just because of the price difference. I use Suave Oatmeal lotion for the same reason. When your son gets a little bit older you can also try to give him childrens chewable fish oil (According to his eye doctor, it is supposed to help clear eczema too). It is flavored for the taste, but my son still did not like it and refuses to take it. I was told his eczema is a condition due to his allergies. Hope this helps. Good luck. Kimberly C.

I had it for a short time when I was under a ton of stress, and my Dr. prescribed an ointment called Elidel. But it isn't really good for toddlers on down, so depending on how old your so is, you may ask your doc about it.

I would highly suggest to get him off ordinary soap and/or the anti-bacterial stuff as both of them can cause harm to little people. The homeopathic remedy is Rhus Tox. for itching and if you like I can suggest a better cleanser for him. Good Luck S.

The pediatric allergist we saw when our son had major eczema flare-ups suggested greasing him up with Crisco after every bath. Yes, I am serious! It really seems to help. We take him out of the bath, dry him off and straight to the crisco. Then into pajamas and it helps to seal in the moisture all night. It is a lot cheaper than other things and the problem with the prescription cream is that it did nothing for us (although I do hear it works great for some people). It is worth a try!

Hello. My 9 month old has eczema on her face and we use Aquafor. She has very dry skin on her arms and legs and I am afraid it is going to turn into eczema. My daughters has severe eczema problems. I used the Gentle Naturals Eczema/exzema cream. You can purchase it at Walmart or CVS(possibly other pharmacies also). However, we were blessed to hear about Reliv. My oldest daughter was the most severe. Within 2 months she was outside playing without any problem. This company has blessed my family in so many ways. I totally agree with a few others here. Arbonnes ABC line. My youngest two and myself have eczema. You would never know though. I have used arbonnes botanically based products for 18 yrs.
