Hi mamas,
I wanted to get my 4 yr old daughter a game system PS3, WII, ect. Not a portable one but one you can watch through the TV. I want to know out all the ones out there which one has the best educational games for her. I want her to have fun and learn as well.

wii. honestly, I had high hopes for learning. the controllers are easier to use. plus, prices are dropping.
Leapfrog makes a system for the tv. Educational games using well known characters. Backyardigans, Dora, Kai-lan, Disney Princess, etc. My girls have both really enjoyed them.
WII is the one we chose since the games are not violent nor obnoxious.
We have the Wii, however, but for learning games my four year old has are his smart cycle or his leapster. The Wii is more fun for him and we LOVE it cause he can be more "active" on days where the weather won't allow him to go outside and burn off some steam. Plus, we all play as a family.
Wii has the better choice for games for little ones over the PS3. They also get more activity playing the Wii games which is great.
We bought one when I was pregnant with my third because she was due in the dead of summer. It gets extremely hot (115-120 some days) so they would not be able to play outside to run off steam and we knew we would not be up to our usual going out places with A/C to run off the steam like we typically do.
Some games are educational but most of them are just fun. They are great for balance, hand/eye coordination and other things like that.
We really like our Wii :)
My 3 1/2 year old loves the Wii. He plays the Sports Resort game (not sure the exact title) and he is really good at the ping pong and bowling. I am amazed at this coordination to be able to do these. He has even been trying the golf and basketball lately. They are not really educational but my son has way-above-average gross and fine motor skills which I think have been enhanced with the Wii. We just got him the Elmo A to Zoo game which is educational but since this is a reward chart gift he hasn't earned all of his stickers yet to get it. I am really excited to play it though :)
I liked Reader Rabbit. It is a computer game but extremely kid friendly.
I have seen several for the WII but don't know one way or the other about the PS3. However, I would suggest one of the portable options. They run on batteries and/or can be plugged in. My daughter (5 next week) has the Leapster 2 and there are lots of age appropriate learning games that grow with the child. Same goes for the LeapFrog Explorer (which my nephew who will be 5 in January has). My other nephew (7 in January) has the Nintendo DS and there are both learning games and others that aren't. LeapFrog has something similiar to that too.
