Exchange Gifts

I just joined a bunko group and found out that they do a Christmas exchange in December. The dollar limit is $20. I don't really know these ladies that well but I see that there are all tastes and personalities. (Some wear very simple clothes while some wear very stylish clothes and jewelry.) All are very nice ladies so I would like to bring something that the recipient would like. I am not very creative so I would appreciate your suggestions. The age range is probably early 40's to late 50's. Thanks!

What about a lovely tea set... exotic teas in the pretty silk bags or a tea diffuser with the high-end leaves. You could pair it with a pretty mug. I received a box of high-end teas for Christmas last year from a client and I would NEVER spend that kind of money on tea for myself, but really loved it as a gift!

You could also do a beautiful tree ornament that they would have for many years. Macy's has some really nice Lenox and Waterford ornaments that are pretty and reasonable.

Hey, I know a group of ladies who do Bunco too, and last year they did gift cards instead of trying to find an individual gift. I though it was a good idea.

I am in a bunko group also and basically do the same thing. I go to HOBBY LOBBY and you can find great bargains. Usually Christmas stuff is like 50% off. Anything from something for the mantle or a great holiday cookie jar. Check it out, lots of idea's in that store. Our limit is usually $20.

Starbucks Gift Card, manicure gift card, Christmas decoration (our bunko Christmas exchange is always Christmas related-started out as ornaments and has evolved into Christmas platters, hangings, etc...). Good coffee and a mug. Popcorn and a movie. (Target always has a selection of $5 movies.) Bottle of wine and Christmas wine glass markers.
NO CANDLES if you ask me. Its like buying perfume if they are scented-what smells good to you may not to me. And I just hate candles and always seem to get stuck with one. (so no, everyone does not like them). Anytime I receive a candle , it goes straight to the donation basket.
Good luck!

TJMaxx, Marshalls, & Ross have awesome gifts for really cheap. They have unusual wine items, sushi plates, dishes, books, cookbooks, specialty coffee, things you wouldn't always find at a regular store. I always shop there for teacher gifts.

i suggest a gift certificate for either : movie theater, ice cream shop, cookie/bakery or a gift shop. usually gift stores have a huge varitiey or something for anyone. candles are usually great (although i hate mulberry and musky sents...they give me a head ache ). board games also cost about twenty bucks.

I'm in a group that ranges between early 30s to late 50s and I always buy candles. Everyone loves them. I go to Home Goods and get great sets. I always tape the gift receipt to the bottom of the gift. If they get it and don't like it they can always return it.

What about a movie theme basket -- either a classic DVD or a movie that almost all women that age love, add some chocolate and microwave popcorn and a drink. Put it all in a plastic popcorn tub or bowl.

I would say "NO" to bath stuff. I am sick and tired of getting bath stuff that I don't use. I like my un-scented lotion and my bar soap. I have a stockpile of lotion that I just need to trash. NO more lotion!

I also like those "as seen on television" products. Those are the kind of things we never call in to buy, but secretly want to try it. I see the products at HEB - the bra clip, the sham-wow, the chopper thingy .....

Another item we don't often buy ourselves is a magazine subscription. Don't know how to 'wrap' that up, but Martha Stewart, Better Homes & Gardens, Good Housekeeping ..... all fun magazines to get in the mail.

do you do any home crafting? This year I am making gift baskets to include homemade pasta, sauce that I made with the veggies from my garden this summer and canned, a dry bread mix (just add water & egg), and homemade garlic spread for garlic bread. Kind of like, a meal in a basket gift.

If you are not a crafty artsy person, you can always put together a themed gift basket... supplies for Bunko, a hand care basket (lotion, soap, emery boards, nice clippers, etc)...

candles, room fresheners and bath & body stuff is nice, but way overdone and you never know what scent people like.

Good luck!

Lilisa,
My neighbor gave me a gift bag with a sateen pillow case, note cards with my initial, a pretty pen, and banana bread mix. I thought it was very creative.

Good luck.

Nice bottles of wine are always a hot item in our Bunco group. Gift cards and home decor, like platters and such, have been popular.

$20 is a good amount, you could get lots of stuff for that. I always find great gifts at Pier One, they have unique stuff everything from trendy to practical. I'm sure you will find the perfect thing wherever you go!

Bottles of wine are always a big hit with my group. If you feel guilty for submitting an $8 bottle, attach a $10 bill.
