Hello! I really need to do something to lose the rest of my baby weight, and can't afford to join a gym. I have been walking with the kids, but it is getting colder, so I am looking for a good video I can do while they nap. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

Erica, I don't know any good videos of hand but if you have a Y.M.C.A. close they offer an open door program that you could get a 6 month membership for less than $40. When my husband lost his job we applied and they have free daycare, free exercise classes, and a pool that the kids love. Good luck I know its hard getting enough exercise once you have kids.

Two other suggestions:
Winsor Pilates DVD series - I really like these and they are GREAT for regaining core strength
Dance Dance Revolution for the PlayStation 2. This game is really fun and is a great workout if you want it to be :)

i have comcast cable and dvr a show called all star workouts on fit tv. there are different trainers each day so it is a variety of workouts. my favorite is ellen barret, she does really good workouts that are all low impact, so there isnt jumping or anything. i am not sure if she has videos that you can buy, but she is great. good luck and keep it up!

A great video is the Dancing with the Stars video. There are four dances on it and each dance is about 8 minutes long. It is a great all over workout. You really feel it working the next day. Plus you get the bonus of one good looking dancer.
The video I believe is also between 14 and 20 dollars so it won't make you go broke. I love this video.

Have you checked on e-bay for workout videos??? Really depends on your preference for video- I bought the Carmen Electra work out for strippers because I figure those ladies have amazing figures... but you might not be into that! LOL! I have a ton- depends on my mood, and it is good to mix it up. If you are like us, where do you find the time to go to the gym???? Good luck. The other thing I did was Weight Watchers on-line to help me get rid of the baby pounds.

The Hip Hop Abs videos are fun and not too hard to learn. It took about 2-3 of each video to get most of the moves down at tempo (it's easier since a number of the moves are repeated in the different videos). I would check out Ebay as I got an INCREDIBLE deal on mine and got the second phase videos with it for cheaper than the website without the extra junk. Keep up the good work!

Do you have Comcast cable with on Demand? The Fitness section has a variety of different workouts that you can do whenever you have the time.

Hands down best video set I ever bought was Slim in 6 (six weeks that is)... it has a beginning, middle and then final workout. I've had 3 c-sections and trust me, losing the middle is brutal. This series really works. You can definitely find this on ebay for a reasonable amount. Also check out www.beachbody.com where they sell it direct.

Hi E.,

I know what you are going through, I really like Billy Blake's TaeBo videos. It is energizing and fun...I also have comcast and they have an exercise and fitness section where you can get a variety of work-outs and they change on a monthly basis plus it gives you a change to do a trial run of one you might want to buy...the other great company is Giam...they have exceptional videos..also your local library has a collection of exercise videos, it's free and you've got it for two weeks! hope that helps and good luck!

Hi E., depending on what tv channels you get-there is one called Fit tv that has tons of exercise shows. I like the Sharon Mann ones. Also, I second the recommendation of the Taebo videos--kickboxing is hard, but it does work. I actually got a set of 6 at TJMaxx (or one of those off-price stores) for like $7. I would also just see what other videos those stores have-they are always cheap. I would do cardio and weights for the most effective fat loss. Hope that helps.

Hi - I am a full time working mom with no time to go to a gym, so I know where u are coming from!

We got an elliptical machine in our basement as well as some free weights. This allows me to go downstairs to do my workout during naptimes or before everyone wakes up.

As far as videos, I really like the Turbo Jam videos. I had asked a similar question a few weeks ago, and many people had recommended me to get Turbo Jam, which is lead by Chalene Johnson.

By the way, I also did Tae Bo, but I find it a bit boring compared to Turbo Jam's addicting music, fun dance moves, and the high I feel afterwards. Chalene is great and is not annoying like some instructors can be. The moves are so much fun and energetic to do, that I find myself doing them around the house too! They sell the Turbo Jam videos on their beachbody.com site, but it was so expensive. I got mine off Ebay.
I just got the Turbo Jam video about 2 weeks ago, and already I can see lines on my abs and arms I never knew I could have!

She also has a 20 minute workout as well as a 45 minute one. Also, she has a 20 minute ab video that is just awesome. This all will be in the DVD.

So to vary my workout, (I also have about 10 pounds to lose) I vary between the elliptical one day, Turbo Jam the next, and jogging the next, etc. Because I work and don't have time in the evening, I do all my workouts before leaving for work. Variety is the spice of life!!! Good luck and congratulations on wanting to take the weight off the natural way!!! :o)

If you have comcast on demand, they offer videos in the health and fitness section.
I used those and loved it because it wasnt the same video over and over.

YMCA sounds great.... and about time you get a couple of videos... might be same cost. Maybe you can find some exercise equipment on craigslist too. Marie Windsor pilates is supposed to be pretty good. I bought Dancing with the Stars exercise video but have yet to open it. I would also check your tvguide for exercise programs on during the day :)

I have Direct TV and there is a health channel I get that has excercise shows all morning and evening. I also belong to NetFlix and rented CRUNCH Pilates. It was a great workout and I was sore in areas I have never been bfore. Whats also great is that I can return it when I get bored with it and rent a different video .Good luck girl - hope this helped.

Do you have Comcast? I don't (but would love to try this), but I have heard that with their on-demand channels you can get an exercise program whenever you'd like.

Hi, I am a certified step, yoga and pilates instructor and it really depends on what type of exercise you are looking for. I teach at a park district and our classes are very reasonable. So you may want to check into your local park district and see what they offer. Otherwise there is a company called collegate video that has all types. For cardio I would recommed Gin Miller or Cathe Fridrich. They are both really easy to follow. They also both have great strength conditioning videos. If you have satelite TV there is a fit tv network on there and Cathe is on there. Yoga I would go with www.yogafit.com for pilates go with stott pilates, they are THE NAME for pilates.
Hope that helps and good luck.

I agree w/ the Ebay thing but look closely at The Firm.
They have 1/2 hr videos and the weight training + cardio is the best way to shape up fast!

My favorite videos are the Quick Fix series (there are 3 10-minute segments on each) - I have the cardio kick-boxing and hip hop one. I always say to myself that I only have to do 1 just get myself started, but I almost always do all three back-to-back, unless a kiddo wakes from napping :)
And I'm a fan of Yoga Booty Ballet (also from BeachBody, but I got my for cheaper by buying it used on Amazon) - you can even do it w/o shoes on - all you need is comfy clothes, no jog bra required. Crunch puts out some fun workouts too - I like the Pick-the-spot Pilates - which has 3 10-minute segments too. Trying on a swimsuit helped to get me motivated. Good luck!

I went to Kmart & got couple of Carmen Electra's dvd's for $10 each. they are strip aerobics but she doesn't strip in them, just shows you how you can use it for exercise only, or dancing for another person.
