I just purchased More Milk Plus, an herbal supplement made in the US, and wonder if anyone has tried it. It is supposed to increase milk production. M.

I have used More Milk Plus, and found it way more effective than Mother's Milk tea. That said, I had to take about four times the recommended amount to keep up any kind of milk supply. I found it was more cost-effective (if less convenient) to have someone mix me an herbal tea with fenugreek, alfalfa, goat's rue, rasp. leaf, and some other herbs, and use that instead. I also didn't have to worry about the store running out (this was an issue with the MMP).

Give Fenugreek a try. You need to take 2 capsules, 3 times per day (6/day) to start (and to be sure it doesn't bother your stomach) and then move up to 3 capsules, 3 times a day (9/day). You've reached a theraputic level when your sweat and urine smell a little like maple syrup (one of the stranger side effects).

I'm post breast reduction and had lots of trouble breastfeeding my 1st child and needed to increase my milk levels the second time around, too. Fenugreek worked great! You can get a bottle at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe for about $10. I've never had any problems digesting it but some women say it makes them a little nauseaus.

Good luck!

While I have not tried that particular product, I did buy and drink the Mother's Milk organic tea while nursing, to help increase supply. I think the magic idea behind all of it is to make you more aware of your fluids intake. When I remembered to drink my water, I had no problems with her getting enough but if I didn't drink or eat properly, not so much. Basically, taking care of YOURSELF will help you take care of your baby :)

Hi M.,

I used it for awhile and also used fenugreek and the mothers milk tea at one point. I thought they all helped a little but not as much as I wanted. The thing that ended up helping me a ton was a combination of lots of water and pumping. I thought I was drinking enough water already but someone told me to drink even more. I got a big kleen canteen type bottle and kept it with me all the time always sipping. I also was advised by someone to pump a ton. I set aside a couple of days to just focus on hydration, baby, and pumping. I would breast feed my son, wait about 20 or 30 minutes, and then pump. I kept up this routine for several days and my milk supply responded beautifully. It was a lot of work but I got the results I wanted. Good Luck.

Hi M.,

I used something similar with success. This is what I used and in combination they seemed to work pretty well:

1. More Milk Plus Special Blend (http://www.motherlove.com/)
2. Vitamin B Complex #5
3. Cod Liver Oil

Pumping at least once a day may also help bring supply up. There is a request from May 28th about milk supply, whose responses might help, if you're interested. Good luck!

Used it with some success. Fenugreek works well also. Have you tried pumping after nursing -- that will also help incrase supply.

I have used it and recommend it often, it is a great product.
Make sure you are drinking enough water(I drink three liters of water when nursing) and eating enough calories. Increasing milk supply is all about supply and demand: the more you nurse, the more you will produce! Good Luck!
