Where in Chicago are you located? I have a few recommendations for you. I'm not a medical professional but that doesn't sound right at all.
What areas of Chicago would you be willing to investigate?
My doctor recommended a Gynecologist since I've been having excessive abnormal bleeding, sharp pain and my ultrasound showed a thick uterine wall and fibroids. I was thinking how I've actually spent more time at the drive-thru at a fast food restaurant than I did at my gyn appointment. My ENTIRE appt. was 10 minutes (this includes filling out paperwork that was never read). The first thing the doctor asked me was if I wanted more children. This would be fine except that I'm 50 and that is not why I was there. So I asked her if she saw my test results and she says "Oh its Monday... I haven't had a chance to look at anything". My results were there for at least two weeks. The actual exam was her shoving her hand up quickly and ripping her gloves off. This part was about five seconds and it was not pain-free. Then she says "Okay, you;re done". Then I said, Well, wait a minute I've been bleeding kind of heavy for three weeks straight (which I told her before) I can't even go swimming. I was given the pill and she literally told me the wrong instructions on how to use them. The whole thing felt so rushed and the doc seemed so distracted like she wasn't really listening to me. I've had so much anxiety since this appointment because my aunt died from Uterine Cancer. My mom took DES when she was pregnant. I mean shouldn't she have done a biopsy? My gut tells me something is wrong. Any advice, what to do at this point? Also, any recommendations in the Chicago area of a good GYN? NW side of Chicago is preferable or Park Ridge or Niles but would take any good recommendation.

More than likely your fibroids are causing you all this discomfort. I had fibroids & my GYN just wanted to do a hysterectomy, I really like her but she was so matter of fact that I just needed to have a hysterectomy. I ended up getting a 2nd opinion. The GYN I had a consultation with was the most amazing Dr. He was so professional & caring, he spent 1 1/2 hours with my husband & I giving us facts, alternatives, options, an exam. I ended up having him do my surgery which was a myomectomy (removal of the fibroids). He is located in Naperville, but he is worth the drive.
Northwestern medical faculty foundation at galter pavilion, northwestern memorial in Streeterville. I would recommend docs Goldsmith, Kiley or Tsai- they will all take time to talk to you! I went to this practice for a decade and just switched to burbs in the last year for birth of my 3rd... Thought about switching back!
