EYE-Anyone ever experienced and eye that tears, not a clogged tear duct, and not pink eye however there is some redness on the cheek bone(looks like windburn..) of the eye that is tearing. Doctor has seen it and said it could be caused from sinus pressure.

NOSE- so my little one will be fine at the house, goes to daycare (in home) and then seems congested when she gets home and overnight. Will it be like this always? Should I just plan on boogers from now until like 2 yrs, someone told me that ; ( Is this her body building immunity??

I know this is an old question but I thought I would share-thanks for your cake referral by the way-her blog had very cute stuff and I emailed her today!

My son (10 months now) has a similar dry & red windburn patch on one cheek/ under eye area- usually 1 side by but sometimes both sides (no tearing that I remember though..) and sometimes little red bumps under his eye on that side. We go to an eye dr. already and she said it might be a little case of baby exyzema. She said sometimes dryness in the winter causes that to come out. It has totally cleared up in the last month or so which makes me think it was the winter dryness in our house. She also suggested putting the humidifier on high in his room (we hadn't been using it only for a short time when he was stuffy once) and carefully putting aquafore on it. I think all of that and the fact that it is not so dry anymore helped. She said if we had more concerns with it that we could take him to a dermatologist and they would be able to pinpoint exactly what it is. Our eye dr. is fantastic if you need one, dr. kolton in barrington. She is one of those buildings right next to good sheppard hospital off of rt. 22.

Sounds like your girl is allergic to something at the sitter's house. Could be pets, feathers, smoking? Ask the sitter to keep an eye out for any sudden sneezing, wheezing, etc in different areas of the home (is there a pet?) Allergy testing is not fun, but is probably warranted.

The eye thing could be dry eye. I have it and just recently realized what it is. You may wish to bring her to an opthamologist or a regular optometrist (the doc at Pearle in Yorkville is great). They'd probably suggest eye drops three times a day and esp in dry (and windy) weather.

the eye and nose may be related, sounds to me like he is allergic to something and it is causing watery eyes and runny nose - Hard to say if it's something at the provider's house, but it could be. Since you don't know WHAT it is it will be harder to eliminate the issue, and changing providers may not solve the issue.

Your child may be allergic to something in daycare home. Do they have cats? Could be anything, but I w/first check out possible allergens.

For your child's congestion, the first thing that popped in my mind is that it could possibly be allergies. Are there pets at the daycare? Any other possible allergens? I would bring this up with your pediatrician. We found out one of our twins is allergic to dogs and it showed up as congestion.

Sorry, I have no suggestions for the eyes!

The eye thing doesn't sound good. I would take my child to an ENT (ear, nose, and throat) especially if your doc thinks it is sinus related. I wouldn't let that go. The nose thing sounds like allergies to me. Maybe she is allergic to mold or dust or something in the home. Your sitter may not even be aware of what ever is bothering her. Those are just the ideas that first come to my mind as my family is always sick and has a history riddled with sinus trouble and autoimmune diseases. Good luck!
