Hi ladies...I need some recommendations for a good face cream...too many products to choose from...need something for the brown spots I've acquired with 2 pregnancies. Don't want anything too expensive, preferably over the counter. I see that olay has a lot of face creams, anybody try any of those? Thanks for the help!

Hi! I am a product junky...especially on facial products. I've bought from over the counter to ones with a hefty price. And tons of it!! So to keep this simple, if you want results, you gotta pay a little bit more. I acquired some brown spots from my pregnancy and opted to get an intense chemical peel. I am very happy with the results. My esthetician sent me home with some products to try out and maintain my face......I LOVE IT!! The line is called IS Clinical...look it up online. Some high-end spas sell it. I've tried lots of products out there and I love this one. Like I said a bit pricey but, if you were to buy one product out of this line, get the Active Serum. It helps for lines and evens out skintone, etc.
If not this than just look for a product that has Hydroquinone, it's a skin lightner, this is what truly helps with spots. Good luck!!
By the way, I just don't think Oil of Olay is going to cut it. Results will probably take forever if any.

If you have melasma a cream with hydroquinone (at least 4 %) and a mild retin-A would help. A series of photofacials or fraxel treatments works great, however, much more expensive.

I own a wellness center located in Simi Vallley, Ca. In response to your question about face creams, I am also a lymphologist which is someone who works to help the client keep the lymphatic system the system that cleanses the toxins out of the body, clear. Whatever we put on our bodies gets absorbed into the body. A lot of the OTC products are loaded with chemicals. We have a product line that is really pure and isn't that expensive. It is made by Usana and the line is called Sense.

The high incidence of breast cancer is attributable to a large degree to the clogged lymphatic system. If you are interested, I can give you more info.

Hi C. D:

I'm a Mary Kay consultant, and of course, I would have to recommend Mary Kay for all your skin care needs. I've always had very sensitive skin myself, and have absolutely fallen in love with all their products. The Mary Kay corporation has spent decades researching the latest, greatest, and healthiest products for women with every type of skin care need. I trust that my skin is the best it can be at my age and don't ever intend to use other products. Just let me know if you would like a complimentary facial or would like some samples dropped off for you to try in private. My grown children and mother live in Ramona so that is an area I love to service.

I'd love to get your feedback.

Hi! I'm an esthetician and Olay "Regeneris" Serum and Lotion w/ sunscreen would be cheap and good compared to physician products (don't waste your money on expensive department store products, there is nothing that effective in them that can be used on the general public and the prices are all marketing costs). You definately need sunscreen if your having pigmentation problems (brown spots) which sometimes fade after pregnancy hormones balance- 6 months. It it doesn't go away...AND isn't safe while your breastfeeding, but you'll need a lightening serum, good ones can be a bit pricey but you only need a tiny bit all of the face before bedtime so a bottle should last you a really long time (you use at bedtime when you'll have no sun exposure and products work best at night w/ our cells) Most times you'll have to continue to regularly use a bleeching type "lightening serum" to keep it away and to get to the inner layers where melenin cells are, as well as, over time your skin layers will exfoliate which will help to reduce the brown spots. Hope that helps!! Take care.

try oil of olay complete in the jar, they have it for all skin types and it works very well, also they have a clear eye rejuvinating gel with witch hazel that works wonders on puffy eyes. You might want to see a dermatologist for the dark spots, or try "esoterica" skin lightener (drugstore item).

Oh, those lovely brown spots! I got mine with my first pregnancy July 2002 and they are just now finally starting to go away. I've either been pregnant or breastfeeding since 02 so that was part of the problem. Living in SO Cal and being exposed to the sun everyday, was also not helping. Wear sunblock!! The more sun you get the darker they get. Anyway, I've spent way too much money on my face. I finally saw a dermatologist and purchased a lightening gel and Retinoic acid. I apply both every night and the gel only in the morning. I'm finally seeing results and it has only taken 2 mos. I think I spent maybe $65.00. Good luck!!

Hi C.!

Seems like your many responses have given you all most as many choices. I will throw another one out there. AVON ANEW ALTERNATIVE PHOTO RADIANCE - specifically formulated for sun damage and discolorations, but not harsh as the over the counter items that usually include quinine (lightening creams) I have to older customers who split thier time between Los Angeles and Palm Desert, they are avid golfers and cannot live without this product, they buy bundles when it is on sale. Normal price is $25 per tube which should last you @ least 2 months. Check out my website for more details. I hope you find a good solution!

Hi C.-

Looks like you have LOTS of responses/opinions. I personally use and sell MaryKay. I noticed there are other responses recommending it, and another consultant in the Ramona area. I am in the north San Diego county COASTAL area. Here is what I have to say:
I have tried so many products over the years. Dermologica is great--but expensive. Arbonne is wonderful--but expensive (and the consultants I have encountered are more interested in having you sign up then anything else). Avon has some great products, and they have good sales, I think they have good skin care (what you are looking for) but their make-up is poor quality, and you have to wait for your ordres. Olay is convenient and works, but can also be expensive as can Neutrogena, L'oreal and other "nicer" over the counter products. Department store brands work but are expensive (they do give great FREE gifts through promotionals though!). I basically have to say that for ME and most of my friends and family--MaryKay is the way to go. Supporting a woman (many times other stay at home moms like you) at her home based business instead of buying from a store makes you feel good. The company has a WONDERFUL policy based on the GOLDEN RULE (do unto others......). The products are up to the minute research based and they work. There are great free gifts with purchases. Personal service. Great return/refund policies. I think the products are priced great. They have recently introduced time saving/step saving products that are "combination" products. I LOVE the 3 in 1 cleanser and the tinted MOISTURIZER with spf 20. Two products that take care of 6 of my skin care needs; cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturize, protect and light coverage to even out my skin tone (Helps hide the Pregnancy mask while cleanser over time is helping fade it). Mary Kay also sells a product called "Even Complexion Essence" made specifically for discolorations. I have personally used it for my brown spots and personally feel it WORKS!! I NEVER sell anything that I do not believe in. I think you could have all 3 of the products I mentioned for a total of apprx $75--with a free gift to boot! PLEASE call the other MaryKay consultant who responded first, if she is in your area or you are interested. If she is not, or you would like to check out the products online at my website--please do!! www.marykay.com/N.
GOD bless!

I would personally recommend you talk to your doctor. I talked to mine and she prescribed a hydroquinine-base cream. It worked well on my face (melasma) and chest (overpigmentation due to pregnancy acne) but everybody is different. After that, she recommended that I wear a light make-up base that contains SPF15 to protect my skin from further damage. The Neutrogena-brand make-up worked really well on me. Good luck!

Hi Christina,

I recommend trying Arbonne's Nutrimin RE 9 Eyecreme. It has kojic acid, which is a natural skin lightner. I became a user of Arbonne products after trying out their anti-aging skin care line. I couldn't believe the results! I too had a large brown spot under each eye from 3 pregnancies and thought I'd have to get them professionally removed. After using their products it is gone on one side and faded tremendously on the other (I have pictures to prove it)!
Arbonne is a Swiss formulated skincare, health and wellness company. All of their products are botanical, vegan, and hypoallergenic. Because of their amazing results and phenomenal products, I have now become a consultant. If you are interested in trying out a sample of the anti-aging skincare line, email me. I think you'll be amazed at the results. ____@____.com

I see you have recieved a lot of recommendations from many skin care consultants. You mentioned you want something over the counter and not too expensive. I too am a consultant for BeautiControl and represented 2 of the other companies from your responses. my website is www.beautipage.com/spa-beauti4u
You may view it if you wish as we do have a great product in our C-Block line that I've just tried and can see the difference! My huge spots on one each side of my neck just under my chin and look like huge dirt spots!
In any event, may I suggest that you first start using a good sun-block with at least spf 30, preferably one made for the face.

Secondly, do try the product of your choice for at least 3 weeks for results.
As well, you may wish to speak to your doctor for other solutons and mention that you would like to try over the counter.

Hello C.,
I am C. Cofer, a beauty consultant, and I have the solution to your skincare dilemma. I have a face cream called "Even Complexion Essence" that is especially for brown and red spots on the face. This discoloration is due to hormone changes, the pollutants in the air, and sun damage. It's a light weight lotion that is evenly spread all over the face and neck. It is suggested to be used twice a day for best results in a 4 wk. period. It comes in a 1 oz. bottle that will last 3-4 months. The cost is $35.00. You can go
onto my website and read more about it: www.marykay.com/ceniacofer and I can ship it out to you(for free) or if you live locally, we can arrange for pick up/delivery. Please contact me if you have any other questions. I would love to help you.

Hi. I have used products since I was 16 yrs old & have spent thousands of dollars on face creams. I have recently discovered a fantastic company that sells the best face products I have found. My skin is glowing! I am now a consultant selling them because I love them so much. You don't say how old you are. We have a line for skin just starting to see fine lines (20-40 yr old) we have an over 40 line & a 55 plus. We also have an acne line and diet supplements. These products are very reasonable and I am buying 3 products for the amount I would have spent on one of another line. The best part is you can order online and never have to go to the store again! You could give me a call at ###-###-#### & I will give you more info. I will call the company now & ask about the brown spots. I remember mine fading over time. If you don't find a cream you could always zap them with a laser treatment which works really well.

I have the same problem..... I've tried everything over the counter and found that the only thing that works is any product with Hydroquinone (sp?). However all over the counter products only contain 2%.......So I gave up. I did try Avons product, that seemed to help for only for awhile. So now I got my primary care physician to prescribe Hydroquonine in 4% and I've using it for 1 month and I really don't see a change. Well.... now it's the laser thing.....we'll see.

Hi C.,

I too, have the Mothers mask after having my second baby. I started using "Ambi". It is a fade cream for dark spots due to pregnancey or natural sun damage. My aunt recommended it to me and it seems to be working well. I don't use it like I should, but I have noticed the spots lightening up when I was using it as directed. It's best to use it before you go to sleep cause you don't want to be in the sun light when wearing it, since like most facial products.. it can do the opposite if exposed to the sun. Oh.. I think she purchased it at WalMart or Pharmacy store. Good Luck! :)

Hi C.,
I see you have already gotten lots of info and suggestions about face creams...mostly oil of olay and Arbonne. I will also recommend Arbonne's products as I also am a consultant...but more importantly because they are the best out there. What the other ladies didnt say is this: Arbonne's products dont have any mineral oil in them, which is the most common base product in skin care and it doesnt absorb into your skin. Your skin may feel soft, but once you wash your hands or face, that softness washes off also. Without mineral oil, our products really go down deep under the skin and start working from the inside out. Arbonne's products also dont have any animal products or by products in them, so they dont have to mask the smell with perfumes and dyes which is the most common reason people have skin problems. I can go on and on...

But to answer your question, I would recommend you using Arbonne's Thermal Fusion mask. It is like a mini facial in a bottle. It has taken away my friends face spots from using the birth control pill. The mask is only $32 and will last about 6 months if used once a week. And there is a 45 day money back quarantee if you dont like it. Also, the Re9 eye cream is really great. The kojic acid in it is a natural lightening agent and should help with your spots as well. The eye cream is $49 and should last about 6 months using it morning and night.
Here is my information if you are interested in learning more about the products.
Good luck,
M.

I think the most affordable is Oil of Olay, i have been using it since about age 20, one thing i can say with all my skin problems, i can honestly say that almost pushing 40, i have very little wrinkles. Another thing, i recently tried Hydroxiderm, its that little advertisment that pops up when you sign on to your computer, it says try it for $3.95, well it did, it did miracles for me, but remember you have to return it in time, or you will get stuck paying for it. You can get it on ebay too, my sister buys it there, its a miracle treatment, good luck.

The only down side I can say about it is that its not going to be as cheap as the stuff you can buy in a drug store. But I must say you get what you pay for. Arbonne Re9 should last you a little less than 6 months. I am very carful to make it last. If you use it you will love it!

It is cold processed (just like veggies, natural ingredients work best when they aren't over cooked)and chirally correct (ingredients that are processed, most beneficially for the skin. for example l-lactic acid wont be as irritating to the skin) www.thenaturalistskincare.com

My advice is 3 fold.

1) hormones created your pigmentation, and until you stop having babies you will continue to have issues. Focus on protecting your face 30SPF or higher, daily. Sunscreen, sunscreen and some more sunscreen!

2)if you want to promote some exfoliation and inhibit the pigmentation. Use something with Lactic Acids, Kojic Acid and Licoric Root (brightens) Something natural, again until you stop having babies and even if you are breast feeding. The FDA has been trying to take the hydroquinone off the market, due to the Carcinogenic concerns.

3) When looking at the list of ingredients, look for the Acids and brightening ingredients to be within the first 5-7 ingredients. That will let you know that they are in higher concentrations in regards to the product you choose and even better if they share how much is in 2%...is the least you should be using. Remember if a product has a ingredient that is saying it lightens and brightens the skin, that ingredient should be in the top 7! Not at in the middle or end of the ingredient listing.

Good luck with your pigmentation, I too have some left over from my last lovely baby. She is turning one in May! It takes time to get those harmones back in order. I still have my linea nigra. So don't be to discourage, if you do it naturally it takes time but your body will thank you for it.

I know you mentioned over-the-counter, but I would suggest that you give a beneficial, botanically-based product a try. For the brown spots, I would suggest Arbonne International's eye cream. It has an effective kojic acid in it that really seems to work for many people's brown spots. Plus it benefits puffy eyes and is firming and moisturizing..something most of us tired moms need! So this would be different than an all over face cream...but maybe worth a try. I can send you a sample if you like. Respond to me privately or via my site: www.CristenLebsack.MyArbonne.com Arbonne offers very convenient online ordering with products shipped directly to you in 1-2 days. I find it so much easier than taking my little one to the store with me. Hope this helps.

C., I'm 63 and I have no wrinkles...I think I was born with good skin but Oil of Olay kept it that way. There are lots of choices with Olay; I use Total Effects.

My sister sells a line of skin care products for about $200 for basics. I bought some to help get her started and it was too much trouble to use; I've given it away. I'm back to Olay which was always in my drawer anyway.

My only other recommendation is sun screen of course, and daily care with whatever you chose.

Good luck.

A face cream to eliminate brown spots needs to have a huge dose of vitamin C. I was getting age spots on my forehead just below the hair line but then I started using an anti-aging product called Nutrimin C RE9. I was shocked and surprised that in just about two weeks after using the products they were completely gone! I was hoping for a decrease in fine lines and a youthful glow but I recieved much more than what I had asked for! That product and their baby wash (which seemed to clear up my sons chronic rash on his face overnight)convinced me to start selling these products from this company called Arbonne. They truly work wonders! You can get a 35% discount when you become a wholesale buyer so don't get sticker shock! Plus, the products are concentrated lasting up to 6 months in measured pumps rather than your typical 30 day supply from the drugstore. A few taps on your calculator and you will see that they are actually a good deal! Check out my website at http://reneepreston.myarbonne.com
