My son's doctor recommended a lotion called CeraVe. You can get it at any drugstore. You do have to be vigilant with it though. If I skip more than a day, he will start to get a flare up.
HTH!
What do you use on your childs eczema on his face? My three year old son has been having flare ups under his lips, chin, and even swelling his lip. We. Have been to dermatologist and given stronger steriod cream, it helps and clears up but then comes back.what facelotion do i use on him, when i start to see some rash i put vasoline on him but still sores come. He drools more when the eczema is flared up so makesthe rash worse. I really think it is caused by pollen or seasonal allergies but not sure.

I use coconut oil on my son's face and body every day and it really has reduced the number of sores he gets. It is cheap and natural and doesn't sting.
The biggest battle with eczema is moisture. Aquaphor ointment all the time to help with moisturization. There is also aquaphor lip ointment to help with the lip. When the flare-ups happen, give him benadryl at night and use hydrocortisone cream during the day. That should take care of it.
My husband has battled severe eczema his whole life, so we've learned a lot about how to control flare-ups.
Good luck! :)
my daughter is going through this right now. hers is for sure seasonal allergies. we use aquaphor and hydrocortisone as needed. if it is really bad i will give her a benadryl before bed. she is going on 10 now and although it has improved over the years, the start of allergy season is a battle we continue to fight. :) good luck.
Please go to freederm.com!!! We use both creams and the soap. The picture of the kid with the red cheeks was my daughter at 6 months. We havent had any major problems since. I just have to make sure to apply extra applications to her elbows and cheeks in the winter. I saw improvement in days but total clear-up in the first couple of weeks. My daughter is now 6 and I dont dress her everyday so sometimes an outbreak will get away from me and then I have to apply a couple times a day to abait her scratching and in a couple of days she's back to normal.
We use hydrocortisone cream. In my experience, it's the only thing that really works quickly and effectively. I notice any scaliness, I put the cream right on there, and the next day, it's gone. That's the thing about eczema, though, it will keep coming back, so you just have to keep on treating it. :(
Aquaphor works well on my kids' faces. Wash his face with something really mild like Cetaphil, then apply moisturizer or cream while his skin in damp -- that's best for moisturizing the skin. Aquaphor is more of a barrier and treats topically but doesn't really get absorbed. As someone else mentioned, you have to be really diligent about using it to control flare-ups.
I would recommend making an appointment with an allergist. They can do testing that can determine any food allergies. Sounds like your son is having a reaction to a trigger. You can use all of the creams in the world....but his condition will not go away until the trigger of the eczema is determined, my son's was milk.
It's autoimmune and probably triggered by food, along with other things. Coconut oil works well. I would not use steroids in any fashion, as with autoimmune disorders, it is counter-productive since it's attacking the immune system and making things worse in the long-term.
I would do an elimination diet. Feingold is a good one for kids and not too hard, but GAPS and SCD are the best. We found that after about 6 months you kind of know what your triggers are.
