I have used it...it is cool, but the novelty wears off for it pretty quickly. I have found that it seriously drains the phone battery quickly though...
Mamas & Papas-
Someone out there must be better at this than I am. Has anyone used the "facetime" feature on the i-phone? How does it work? best I managed is to see a picture of myself and dropped the call.
thanks,

It only works if both people have iPhones with face time. Then it runs off wifi. Or if someone has a Mac they can FaceTime an iPhone
You have the camera turned to you. I haven't done it in a while but on the screen you have an icon that is like a camera with swivel lines around it. Touch it to turn the camera around if want. Try again!
It's just a phone call with real time video--hence "face time" --talking face to face. Pretty simple really.
But both users have to have face time.
In your contacts, you can "request face time"...
I love it!
I bought my sis & I matching phones b/c I'm moving to NY & wanted to stay connected! It works great!
I messed up my first few calls too, I think others are right about the camera facing you, it can also face out to show others your surrounding.
Until I got the hang of it it was easier for someone to call me. Just keep practicing. You'll get it!
I only use it in a wifi zone, either from my iMac or iPhone. I use it with my elderly parents all the time -- they have an iPad and can sit on the couch and chat with me. I use their email address to connect, not a phone number. It's very much like skype, but seems to connect better if you use an apple product to an apple product, both in wifi. Re: the camera, I like to show them art I'm working on and just switch the camera from back to front as we're talking.
It works with any "i" product or MAC computer or laptop.
BUT the other person ALSO has to have it, too.
It is similar to Skype.
But is for Mac/Apple/i products.
Your call may have dropped, because of the phone provider. Not the feature itself. Unless you inadvertently "hung up."
It works if both people have an iphone or ipad. It's like a videoconference feature. I do it with my daughter when I'm at work. My inlaws who are out of state also do it with my daughter. Sometimes my daughter still looks for the rest of the person's body behind the ipad.
Well, you have to make sure the person on the other end also has an iPhone/iPad/iPod (and that they're somewhere they can take the call - some devices have to be on a WiFi network to do facetime). When the other person picks up the call, you will see their face (and they'll see yours). Other than that, it's like having a phone conversation on speakerphone. ;)
The ipod touch also has FaceTime, but we have never used it. I found instructions here. http://www.apple.com/ios/facetime/?cid=wwa-us-kwa-iphone-...
