Family Vacations

Depending on how far you want to travel, Houston is a GREAT place to take kids on vacation - and it's not too far to drive. There is a TON of things to keep them occupied. IE: The Battleship Museum (LaPort), The Childrens Museum, Moody Gardens (Galveston), Bayou Wildlife Park (Alvin), Oil Ranch (Hockley), Space Center ... The options go on and on.

Have you thought about the beach? Galveston? It's not far - plus you can rent a beach house for relatively cheap. I like to use www.bayreef.com. From Galveston, you can do many things - Houston, etc. As far as vacations go, it's pretty inexpensive.

Have you thought about Fossil Rim Wildlife Parkin Glen Rose? It has 1500 acres and 800 exotic animals roaming free. Go to www.fossilrim.com for more info Also near there is Dinosaur Valley State Park and there you can actually see real dinosaur footprints and other cool stuff. Have you considered San Antonio? We are taking our family vacation there in May. There is a lot to do in SA...River Walk, SA Zoo, Sea World, Fiesta Texas.

last year we rented a condo on the beaches of south padre island... flew down there on southwest airlines (cheap) rented a minivan at the airport and had a GREAT week... www.vrbo.com is where you can find vacation rentals.

Have you thought about a dude ranch around the D/FW area? There are quite a few...

camping on Texoma is fun too -- there are some cabins you can rent.

Glenrose is a fun trip...as is going to places in like HOuston -- you could go to NASA and their aquarium..

I'd be interested in what you find out from others too... we're looking for some 3-4 day weekend getaways to do this summer too! :)

Have you thought about Houston? You could take him to Johnson Space Center.
