Leon Valley has one, I believe, at their community center. They will post it on their sign each year.
Hi Ladies!
Does anyone know of any Farmer's Markets in the San Antonio area? And I'm not referring to a truck parked by the side of the road type of Farmers Market. My family and I are trying to eat healthier and introduce more fresh vegetables and fruits into our diet (change of lifestyle, really). The selection at HEB isn't the best and the selection at Central Market and Whole Foods is too expensive. A true Farmers Market would be refreshing and great for the budget.
Any help with that would be great! Thanks in advance!
A.

On Saturday, I went to the Farmer's Market at Pearl (crowded but will improve with time) and the one at Olmos Park (smaller, veggies were good quality). But I wanted to throw one more idea out for you: try shopping at Sun Harvest. My father is extremely price conscious and loves vegetables. He prefers the ones he finds at Sun Harvest for their quality, flavor and price. You might want to start checking there. There is one at the southeast corner of 281 and 1604.
There is also one on Thursdays outside the Botanical Gardens. You do not have to pay admission for the Gardens. It is small as well probably about 7 vendors last season.
Leon Springs has been hosting a farmers market for the last year off I10 and Boerne Stage Rd behind HEB in a Baptist Church parking lot. check out:www.leonspringsfm.com
Veggies, nuts, baked goods, plants, grass-fed beef and other meats, and sometimes crafty items. its a small, quaint market with the friendliest atmosphere and often live music. well worth checking out. Haven't had the time to make it down to Pearl Brewery but will soon.
A., go to the Pearl Brewery website. Pearl Brewery no longer is a working brewery but it's site is the home of party venues, a restaurant and it hosts a weekend farmers market. I haven't been able to go yet myself, just found out about it two weeks ago and it is my understanding that it is still in the fledgling stage but, there are pictures on the website and the farmers market looks promising. Also, I have been to a side of the road FM on Wurzbach at the St. Mathew's Catholic church ball park site. There are a few vendors there and the produce was good. I don't know how often they are there but if you call they church, they may be able to answer your questions. Good luck!

There is also one On Wurzbach Road between Lockhill Selma and Vance Jackson held at the sports field just at the railroad tracks. Small but growing also and the veggies are great!
I have been going to the Leon Valley farmers market on Wednedays. It is small but growing - the veggies are usually good and there is a beef vendor as well. Check out the link - http://www.picktexas.com/farm_market/santon.htm
9-1 every saturday at the old Pearl Brewery downtown they just opened a farmers market and it is supposed to have over 150 local farmers with their products
the botanical gardens has one i believe on wed or thurs mornings
I agree with you. San Antonio needs a real, good Farmers Market. The one in Oklahoma City is the best I've seen AND it's open every weekend.
I read the previous replies and was wondering if the Farmers Market at the Pearl Brewery is open every Saturday or when? The opening time was posted, but not the day.
I haven't been yet, but supposedly a great new one--that is a REAL market--is down at the Pearl Brewery area off 281/Josephine street. You can also check out greenling.com as they offer delivery of locally grown produce to your home. Good luck!
We go to the Farmers Market at the Pearl Brewery (already mentioned by another). It keeps growing each weekend. It's fairly new, but we've been getting some GREAT produce (along with plants, beef, bison, etc...) They open at 9am, and I recommend getting there early, the produce can be pretty picked over by 10am.
