Hi Mamas! Just wondering what you all might be doing for Father's Day. I know guys don't expect much, but I want my hubby to feel celebrated. Thanks in advance for all the help!

Go to www.CreateHeritage.com, click on Template Gallery at the top, then type in the word "father" or "dad" in the search box. You'll find some really great projects that you can make for him. (cards, books, posters, etc.)

This one is my favorite: http://www.heritagemakers.com/index.cfm?event=projectBrow...

get together with a couple of your girlfriends and plan a poker night for your guys (if they go in for that kind of thing)...have a big movie night at one of the houses with you and the kids, and set up for the guys and the poker night at another house... get them pizza, and chips and dip and give them each 20 or 50 worth of quarters nickels and dimes to play the night away...

Or plan a big bbq at a local park...

Or ask him what he would like to do... then plan something around that... ;-)

Good Luck... ;-)

We are going to let daddy sleep in and then serve him breakfast in bed. I will soon be taking the kids to paint him a coffee mug and will serve his coffee that morning in the new mug. Also, we have a journal called "Dad's Special Day Journal." Every birthday and father's day, we do a journal entry. My kids are only 4 and 1, so it's been hand prints and scribble so far. My son will be able to draw pictures this year. It will be really neat when they are teenagers and able to write him letters. We'll let him play golf for the day. Lastly, I will make his favorite dinner...the forbidden hot dog. Just make it everything "him" and he will love it!!

Hi -

I'm video taping the kids each recording their own special message for dad. I'm coming up with some questions to ask them on video so we can get spontaneous answers...kids say the darndest things.

We'll let him sleep in and go get donuts for breakfast. We'll probably have a huge water gun/waterballoon fight in the backyard or go to the pool. Then out to dinner to his choice of restaurants.

Good luck!

I went to Starbucks last year (my hubby LOVES coffee) and bought a mug you can customize w/ pictures. Then I gathered pictures of our son & did a collage our family & printed it on a color printer. He LOVED it. It costs less than $15 & just a little bit of time & is very thoughtful! Good luck!!

Hey there!

Dads love little thoughtful stuff similar to Moms...like breakfast in bed, little pictures from the kids, a nice BBQ'd meal. Depends on what kind of guy you have. Maybe he wants time to go fishing or hiking or a Kitchen Pass to hang out with the guys. I have more ideas on my website too if you're interested (www.pamperedchef.bizz/annaquanschmoldt) but I'd also suggest keeping it simple.

Hope that helps a little! Good luck. Whatever you decide to do, I'm sure it will all be great!

My husband loves riding the train (the kids and I do, too). It reminds him of his GrandDad. For Mother's Day (you can do it for Father's Day) he drove me and the kids down to Corpus Christi on a last minute weekend trip. It was GREAT! We got a hotel room, spent the next day at the Mustang Island State Park beach and ate in restaurants *only* :)In return, I'm planning a train trip to Dallas. We'll visit Six Flags, spend the night in Dallas and find somewhere interesting to eat (we like "unusual" foods, not burgers every night).

Train travel is great because the kids don't have to stay seated every minute, there is an Observation Car with huge windows, a dining car, a snack lounge, the kids don't have to whisper and the seats are roomy and comfortable enough to nap in when the kids to get tired. It's also less expensive than air travel. It's great!

Good Luck with your planning!

my husband has a friend that is a chainsaw sculpture and i am getting one of those ...i have to wait for his birthday or christmas due to finances. There is also snapfish.com where you can custom pictures to cups calanders and other things. We usually give a gift certificate to Academy to my dad because he likes the mad money and will actually get out to the store that way. Give him a hunting/fishing day or golf what ever he likes. Custom golf balls. Hope you get lots of ideas.

Last year, for the first father's day, I put together a slide show of pictures of my husband and daughter throughout her first year. I titled it "I Love My Daddy Because..." and the pictures went with a reason. For example, "..he feeds me" then I put pics of him feeding her, "..he plays with me", etc.
He really loved it.

last year i had the kids paint a picture frame, then put a cute family photo in there. He keeps it on his desk. This year I was thinking of trying to make him a tie with their footprints and handprints, but am not sure how to go about doing that.

Lots of attention from the moment he wakes up. A nice card. Homecooked meal of only his favorites. Rub his back. And of course if the kids are old enough they should make him cards. I'm no good on gifts. I don't believe in spending a lot of money, but if you know of something he has really been wanting...

We will be doing handprints in plaster of paris again this year. It is a gift he enjoys and we can both have when the kids are grown. =) We have also done footprints on a t-shirt that the kids were allowed to "decorate" (they were a little young the first time).

Instead of more knicknacks, I'm getting him a gift certificate to have his car completely cleaned and detailed. He commutes 80 miles daily, and the kids are always in it, so it's a total mess. It used to be a really nice car! So while he's having it cleaned, we're going to walk next door to a good restaurant and have a nice lunch out together.

Most of the other moms I know do what I do.. We ask the dad what he would like to do that weekend... Some golf, ride bikes, sail, bowl.. They all seem to have something they enjoy doing, but do not have the opportunity to do..

Our daughter always wanted to make dad a piece of artwork for work. I always made him his favorite meal for dinner that Sunday night.

My husband loves going to the "Alamo Drafthouse" here in Austin. It is a movie theater that serves a meal to you while you watch the movie. Our daughter now loves to make sure we order tickets for one of his fathers day weekend events at the Alamo Drafthouse during that weekend.

So I guess we make it an entire weekend devoted to him and his enjoyment.
