A few years back my husband got a shirt that had "My Dad Deserves a Pat on the Back" painted on the front and the kids' handprints were all over the back.

Hi A.!

I have an idea for you, I used it last year with my son. I took a picture of him in Daddy's clothes and shoes, printed it off and put it in a frame that holds two photos. One side I put the photo and the other side I put this poem:

Daddy's Shoes

I love to wear my daddy's shoes though my feet are small
When they are in my daddy's shoes, I feel 10 feet tall
Someday I'll grow to fill them, I only hope to be
As fine a man and great a dad, as my daddy is to me.
Happy Fathers Day!

I can email you the picture we took if you send me your email addy. Also, if your hubby has work boots you can take a picture of the boys in just the work boots without all the dress up clothes and change the poem to "Daddy's Boots"

I love the poem about Daddy's Shoes posted! One of my favorite children's primary songs goes like this:

I'm so glad when daddy comes home, glad as I can be.
Clap my hands and shout for joy, and climb upon his knee.
Put my arms around his neck and hug him tight like this.
Grab his cheeks and give him what? A great big kiss!

Your children can recite it like a sing-song poem and act it out (like at put their arms across their chest to show a hug and blow a kiss at the end).

When I was teaching Sunday School, I did the following poem with my toddlers. I printed it on a sheet of paper and then stamped their footprint on it. All of the dads really liked this idea. I found this and many other ideas on this website: www.dltk-kids.com

Footprints

"Walk a little slower daddy," said a child so
small. "I'm following in your footsteps and
I don't want to fall.

Sometimes your steps are very fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see;
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.

Someday when I'm all grown up,
You're what I want to be;
Then I will have a little child
Who'll want to follow me.

And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true;
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you."

if your boys are old enough you can get them to paint a shirt for dad.. Thats always fun. You can also make a iron on of a pic of the boys for dad and put it on the shirt too.
I google searched dad poems and found this link

I framed the following for my hubby's first Father's day with our last name at the top. I just printed it on "manly" looking paper and got a rustic looking frame (fit with our motiff). It turned out really nice and he loved it.

You got it from your father.
It was all he had to give.
So it's yours to use and cherish
For as long as you may live.
If you loose the watch he gave you
It can always be replaced,
But a black mark on your name, my son
Can never be erased.
It was clean the day you took it,
And a worthy name to bear.
When he got it from his father,
There was no dishonor there.
So make sure you guard it wisely,
For once all is said and done,
You’ll be glad the name is spotless
When you give it to your son.

I wish I knew who orginally wrote it but I got it from my BFF who got it from someone, who got it from someone, etc.

Two years ago I got an inexpensive scrapbook from the craft section at Wal-Mart. I collected pics of each of our three children and made a great book for my hubby. The beginning of the book started with pictures of all of us together from various trips or vacations and titled this section "The Whole Gang" and I captioned each picture with cute little sayings. Then I did a section dedicated to our oldest son with his hand prints on the last page of his section. I did the same type of sections with our two younger daughters and their hand prints. We have lots of nicknames for our kids so on each of their pages I put all the various nicknames that we call them. Then I did a section of just "the boys" so it was all shots of my son and husband followed by "the girls" with shots of myself and our daughters. Then I ended the book with more family photos and a nice handwritten note on the last page about how proud we are that he is the cornerstone of our family. He still says that is his alltime favorite gift. I haven't thought of what I will give him this year, but I know the kids are going to make cards for him. Once will be a tool box that says "When it comes to being the greatest dad... then inside the tool box there will be a hammer that says "You Nailed It!" The other will be a card that says "When it comes to being a great daddy, you're the best... HANDS DOWN!" with my daughter's hand prints in the center.
