If I am not working we usually go out to eat (only go out once a week) and then either watch a movie at home, play a board game, or some outdoor activity if it is nice out.
What to you and dear husb do w/your kids on a typical Friday night?
Any traditions?
Any ritulas?
Watch movies?
Special dinner?

When my kids were younger, we would have Friday game night. Whatever they wanted to play was fine for Hubby and I. Now they're older (11,14,15) and we reserve Friday as a day when their friends can come after school and hang out for a few hours. It gets loud and busy but then all the friends go home and we have a bit of family time. My kids love this tradition. It's their reward for working hard all week. Sometimes moms will join in and we'll crack a bottle of wine and kick up our feet. (My reward for working hard all week :) ) Enjoy!
Oh, my when we lived in Italy, we had a very nice American couple that would come over our home every Friday evening. We would order the best Italian pizza, which is no comparison to American pizza, have our beer and just hang out till 1 am chatting, sometimes dancing, and listening to music. Unfortunately they didn't have children, but they loved coming over to play with ours. I truly miss them. If I could have them come along to our next destination I would take them in a second. True friends are hard to come by. Thanks for a good question
When the weather turns chilly it's "movie night" at our house. We don't go see movies all summer and usually don't go to the theaters so I do a little research on what we haven't seen that's rated kid friendly and search on the library's website. There we can put them on hold and even pick them up at a drive thru!
The kids always look forward to seeing a new movie, making popcorn and cuddling up on the couch. It's our favorite cold weather Friday night activity.
To mix it up, sometimes we do pizza guy (order delivery) and play Wii in the basement. We make up teams and play against each other. We remind the kids that it's supposed to be fun, not competitive or rude.
Every once in awhile we'll do a "spa night". The girls and I will take nice baths, put on bathrobes and jammies and sip tea while doing our nails. The girls always think that's super fun! (I've bought some nail stickers and glitter top coat so that always makes it extra special.)
We have movie night every Friday. We started when my oldest was about 2. Now my older two take turns picking. Pretty soon the baby will start having a say.
My 13 year old daughter loves Friday nights and is so disappointed if we don't order pizza or have daddy make his famous hot wings and watch a movie with my 6 year old twins. And of course, we usually make a roll of cookies, too :-) It just warms my heart that for right now, she still treasures that time with us all together...I hope she doesn't outgrow it. Sometimes, after the boys have passed out if the rest of us still have an ounce of energy after work and school, we'll play a game with her like Apples to Apples of Farkle.
Friday's, we usually try to go to our boat club before poker night starts, clean the place up, replace anything that needs it, etc. If the weather is crummy, we go to our friends house. It's like a family party there every weekend!! The grown ups sit around and chat and watch all the kids play rock band... and after the kids go to sleep, WE play rock band, LOL!!
Pizza, eaten picnic style. while watching a DVD.
Every Friday is "Family Movie Night" at our house. We do something special for dinner (either order in or make something fun & unusual) and watch a nice family movie together. It's down time/together time that we all look forward to all week.
We have our kids (15, 12 and 9) every other weekend, the other weekend they are all at their other parents. Every friday night that we have them its "family movie night". And we ALWAYS have pizza and salad for dinner and in the middle of the movie I ALWAYS make popcorn. During the week they start asking what movie we are going to watch on Friday, they always look forward to it.
ETA: And for our Friday nights that we dont have the kids, hubby takes me out to dinner. =)
Nothing special at our house. It's just another day of the week.

Every Friday night my husband makes home made pizza with the kids and then they watch Ghost Adventures together all piled on our bed.
e/o friday ( thankfully on the same fridays) my two boys go to thier dad's for the weekend and my oldest has pep band.
I unfortunally usually work every Friday night.
Every Friday though my husband and I and the two little ones do go grocery shopping.. I guess that's my "fun" ( cough cough) thing to do lol
We are close with a few neighbors who have kids. We usually all end up at a someone's house for homemade pizza or potluck night. In the summer, we all hang out outside in our front yard because we have a nice seating area, then order delivery. The kids have a great time burning off lots of energy playing with each other and the adults get a chance to relax, drink a glass of wine and talk. It really breaks up the usual monotony of our evening routine and kicks off the weekend with something a little different but still relaxing after a long week of working.
