I know this will sound weird but try dipping the green beans in fruit... My daugther as well love orange veggis and her whold body has an orange hue.... Good luck!
I started my son on fruits and veggies when he was 6mon old. He is eating well. He loves his fruits and he love sweet potatoes, carrots, squash and mixed veggies but he will not eat pees or green beans or garden veggies any thing green. He eats all fruits. My problem is he eats so much of the other that his nose looked orange. I would like any Ideas of what I can do to get him to eat his green veggies. Any Ideas would be great. Thank you.
Thank you everyone for all the advice on how to get my son to eat green veggies. I tryed to alternate give him one bit of fruit and one bite of veggies and It worked he ate a whole jar of green beans! He made faces but then when I gave him the fruit it took a little to get him to open up but he did. He did well so im going to keep doing that, thanks again everyone for all the advice and it was nice to know that I was not the only one going threw this. I had 4 other kids who had never had a problem eating anything lol.

Sweet peas are a start and my son Loved soy beans aka Edamame in the store (you buy them frozen ~Shaws Whole Foods~) and then just heat up what you want to use)
Altho 6 months still sounds too young for solids..
Our baby started out liking everything (she is 7 months now) but then started got picky, especially about the green stuff. She hated the peas, and after I tasted them, I agree- they are HORRIBLE tasting, same goes for steamed/pureed zucchini- and these are foods that I usually love!
But now she loves her spinach, avocado, green beens and others in addition to the sweeter things. I just continue making meal time fun and no pressure- we all eat at the same time, so she sees Mom and Dad eating. And I let her touch the food if she wants, or help bring the spoon to her mouth, and if she is hesitant about a food, I act like I eat it and really lampoon about how tasty it is- then she gets excited to eat it too!
I think they can sense when we get concerned or frustrated about their eating habits, and look to what we are doing and eating for guidance. (Another reason to stay away from junk food!)
I have had this exact same problem with all 4 of my children, we are having it now with my 8 month old. Here's what works for us. I feed both veggies and fruit during the same meal. I'll get him going good on his fruit then sneak in a spoon or 2 of veggies then back to fruit for a few spoonfulls then sneak in the veggies again. I'm able to get him to eat usually a stage 2 fruit and a stage 1 veggie at each meal.
Hope this helps!
Try adding them to tomato sauce when you make pasta or rice for him (or eventually when he starts eating those things if he hasn't already).
My son is the exact same age and won't do the green veggies either. We had the same problem with him looking orange. So I am trying to just give him more fruits than veggies when he starts to look orange. I know that's not much help, just wanted you to know you aren't alone!!! Good luck
Have you tried mixing the green veggies into foods that he already likes? If you start mixing in a little bit at a time, maybe he'll get used to the taste and you can gradually give him larger amounts.
I will alternate spoonfuls of food so the first spoon will be something he likes, say banana. Then immediately give him a spoonful of green like peas. I find if I alternate quickly between something he loves and hates, he'll take both. Or I'll do a spoonful of oatmeal with green veggies so he's getting the green but tasting more of the grain. Sorry, it's a tough one those green veggies! I am hoping if my little one realizes green veggies are here to stay maybe he'll start getting used to it more??
Maybe you can start to slip the green veggies in with the other colored veggies, but not too much that the color changes to green. My daughter who is now 2 1/2 actually won't eat any veggies other than green ones! Good luck
I would agree that you should try making some of the veggies yourself -- they look, smell, and I'm sure, taste much better. Just cook them thoroughly and blend them in the blender to get them very smooth, so there are no problems with texture. Also, try mixing them with cereal and gradually increase the amount of veggies to cereal as he gets used to them. (Also when you make the veggies yourself, just freeze the extra in ice cube trays, pull out and defrost as needed). Remember that it can take up to 12 times trying a food for some babies to get used to it, so if he doesn't take to it at first, try, try again.
I would not worry about it at this age. Since he is only 7 months his nutrition should be mostly from breast milk (or formula) and foods are more for play and learning. My 7.5 month old doesn't like purees and we are doing a "baby led" approach. That being said, if you are keen on giving him solids, I agree the purees taste yucky. My daughter never like the jarred green veggies but loved regular whole beans, peas, broccoli etc. I would suggest trying something like that so he can "feed" himself. Good luck!

have you tried making home made green purees? they taste VERY different than the store bought ones. i used to steam peas and then squish then through a sieve. i would also sauté zucchini and puree it in a food processor. those are the "mild" green veggies. you could also try mixing some green ones with the sweet ones he enjoys. such as broccoli potato!
Hi, my daughter was the same way when she was a baby. You should try mixing some fruit that she really likes with the other veggies she won't eat. That may sweeten the taste and he may be more apt to eat it. Or you may want to try mixing it with cereal. Even if he is only getting a little bit it will still be something. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
Peas are sweeter than green beans.
Hi,
I used to mix fruits like apple sauce with the green vegetables. My son was and still a very picky eater. But he used to eat it with fruits mixed with it.
Hope this helps.
I hated greens theoughout my whole childhood, but I figured out that I like them all in my pasta sauce. Maybe you'll have luck with that, or maybe make homemade fruit smoothies and sneak a handful of veggies in there.
put the green veggies in a food processor with more green than orange and slowly change the ratio, sometimes you might just have to eliminate it for awhile it's ok if he cries for a short period he'll survive!!!
how is he with picking things up to eat them? My daughter (now almost 8 months) refuses to eat all baby food purees. AI buy the canned green beans, no salt added, and let her pick up the little bits. She loves them. She will also eat steamed broccoli (the tops) this way. If he picks up cheerios, I would suggest giving him the veggies to pick up. As long as they are soft, and he uses his gums to 'chew' he should be alright. It might be more fun for him to eat this way. :)
May be the texture rather than the color. have you tried pureed avocado? Most kids love it, and after they like that you can use the creaminess of the avocado to mix with the peas and green beans.
Hi D.,
Are you still nursing your baby? If so, then you don't really have to worry about nutrition for a while. The rule of thumb is not to make a big deal about food. Keep offering him a variety of foods and he will choose what he wants or likes. As children get older they often go through stages (I don't have to tell you-you're a mother of 5) where they like or don't like particular foods. Continue to offer him everything, but as far as eating his greens are concerned, why don't you try adding a tiny about of greens to his fruit, carrots or sweet potatoes. Just put a tiny bit in at first so that he doesn't notice it. After a few days increase the amount but don't rush it. Hopefully he'll get used to the new taste, little by little until you can give him greens. On the other hand, my son is 22 now and he still won't eat tomatoes. :-) I hope this is helpful.

My first son did the same thing. And he turned orange. We mixed stuff together also, sometimes in the same bite. And in addition to increasing green, I increased blue and white while decreasing yellow, orange and red.
I had the same problem with my son, he didn't want the green vegetables. So I tried mixing the sweet potatoes with the green veggies and he loves it.. I do have a question- how much of the veggies and fruit does your little guy eat each day? Have you given him little pieces of banana or soft fruit? I am nervous to try- afraid he'll choke.
Thanks,
K.
Hi D.,
My son seems to have the same preferences in veggies as your baby. I trick him by dipping the spoon in the green veggies first (just a little) and then in the carrots or squash. His skin turned a little orange as well before I started doing this. Green beans and Garden Vegetables are better choices, have you taken a spoonful of the peas? Gross, I wouldn't want them and I like peas! Just keep mixing and trying, eventually you will build him up to entire spoonful of GREEN!
Good luck.
