YoBaby yogurt also comes in a Vanilla/Banana pack so you could start with that if you're concerned about strawberries. I remember reading that too somewhere, but my 10mth old is fine with strawberry flavor now too. He loves his yogurt snack!
I'm trying to give my 7 month old some different foods other than her baby food and cereal but have some questions. I want her to try Yobaby Yogurt and they have a Straberry flavored one (it has strawberry puree in the bottom) but my pedi said no strawberries, nuts, milk, meat, or eggs the first year. Is this just simply a warning against strawberries or does that mean anything that has strawberries in it is off limits? (If so why do they have a baby on the carton?) I've noticed that Gerber also makes a strawberry, pear, granola food for the second stage...
Also, I'm not certain about dairy products. I know she can't have milk yet but can she have cheese? The yogurt is also made with whole milk.
What are some other things she can eat now? She has 2 teeth and nibbles on toast, Lil'Crunchies, and Puffs.
Thank you all so much for the help. Your suggestions were great. We've tried avocados, which she loved, mandarin oranges, she liked, bananas, she hated them-but so do I, tomatoes, loved 'em, cheese, loves it. She didn't really like the yogurt that much but I will try it again later. I think she is just ready for a firmer texture. Thanks Kristin for the website about cooked strawberries; it was very informative.

My baby is 6 months old and eats the yobaby yogurt, the doc said to give it to her for her thrush, and she loves it! She just had the strawberry kind today, and she's fine! I also give her bits of string cheese, and biter buiscuits. She loves 'em. Just no eggs, or honey, nuts, or meat.
YoBaby has Vanilla/Banana pack as well I would start with that FIRST! The strawberry is mixed in so it is hard to avoid. You can also try Yoplay for kids it is thicker so easier to feed little ones they have other flavors than Strawberry. I would AVOID Sraawberry's until after the year just to be safe. Infact we tried YoBaby Strawberry yogurt after she turned one and she has a reaction on her face Red skin around her mouth. So we have waited until she was a year and a half and tried again and now no reaction.
Better to be safe than sorry!
I think sliced cheese will be fine to give her, I would wait for her to have molars before trying hard cheese like string cheese.
Try:Kiwi, mandrin oranges, peaches, diced grapes, diced tomatoes, Gerber grad. Yogurt bites Peach flavor, Pasta pick ups, peas, oatmeal. I boil rotini pasta and add baby food such as sweetpotato and corn to it...then add peas and carrots.
Hope this helps!
The strawberry has to do with fresh vs cooked. I use this site all the time for food ideas-here is teh page about strawberries

Other ideas might be cooked pasta, cut up soft pears, bananas, avacado, potatos, peas, cooked beans (rinse if canned & smush up a bit), rice, oatmeal, applesauce. I believ yogurt is ok to-they process it differently than milk.
We just started letting our kids taste off of our plates & pretty soon they were eating everything!
The reason for no strawberries is because it's a known allergen. Just like nuts, milk, meat or eggs.
As for dairy products the reason that warning is around is so parents don't rely solely on dairy products for babies under a year. They can have yogurt and cheese (my favorite thing to give was the fancy shredded cheese. Easy for them to eat!)
My daughter is 13 months old with a whopping 2 teeth and eats everything we put in front of her. Cubed steamed (to almost mushy) veggies, scrambled eggs, french toast, beans you name it!
You can ask your pediatrician to be sure. But my daughter ate the YoBaby yogurt when she was about that age. She ate the vanilla and banana too. Strawberries weren't on my "list" of no-nos. She turned out fine. :) The YoBaby yogurt is the best for that stage because it's not very solid.
As for the cheese, my daughter ate that too. Cheese and yogurt are okay, but milk is not. Just becuase a food has milk in it does not make it part of the "no" list. I asked my pediatrician that same question. Unfortunately, I can't remember what his exact answer was.
If she hasn't tried applesauce, you might want to try that too. My daughter loved the stuff. I switched to regular applesauce rather than the baby food kind because it was cheaper and she liked it better. Just watch out for the ones with lots of sugar in it.
