I use to get yeast infections too. My doctor gave me the best advice and I haven't had one since. He told me to go pee after sex. If you don't then you are more susptible to infections. it worked for me.
Please pardon me if this is offensive to anyone, but I get very frequent yeast infections. I have been with the same man for seven years and have been tested for STDs, so this is not a concern. I have heard about using boric acid capsules. I'd like some feedback from women who have tried this method and might provide me with some further insight.

Hi, D.,
I am a grandmother, but I was troubled by yeast infections a short time after I was diagnosed with diabetes. Now that I am controlling my blood sugars, I have no more problem.
Young people are getting type II diabetes all the time. I hope you don't have diabetes, but if you haven't tested, you might want to think about.

IT IS NOT OFFEMSIVE IT'IS NATURAL
ARE YOU DIABETIC? ANTIBIOTICS WILL SET A YEAST INFECTION OFF. WHEN EVER I GET A SCRIPT FOR AN ANTIBIOTIC I ASK FOR THE YEAST INFECTION MEDS. IT'S SWEET AND WARMDOWN THERE JUST WHAT YEAST LIKES. MY 23YR OLD DAUGHTER DOES THE SAMETHING. MY HARMONES ARE ALSO TOTALLY SCREWED UP DUE TO TRANSPLANTS, THIS CAUSES A DISCHARGE THAT REALLY SMELLS. cALL AND ASK YOUR OG/GYN
Hi D.,
It's not an offensive question. Yeast (Candida) in the vaginal canal is a sign that your entire body is eaten up with it. The last place yeast appears is through the skin in sweaty places like under your breasts or the crevices of your elbows. The place it shows before that is your vaginal canal.
You need to deal with the Candida immediately because any topical remedy will only help short term and the infection will return (as you said it has!). Candida is rampant in our society today because of all the sugar and simple carbs (that are also sugar) we eat. Ask anyone who bakes homemade bread; sugar FEEDS yeast.
The quickest remedy is a supplement known as Tanalbit. You will need to order it over the internet from the manufacturer. If taken for 3 months and your sugar intake is limited the yeast will go away. You will probably lose weight also as yeast prevents weight loss.
Another supplement is Florify that is amazingly less expensive than the Tanalbit and will do the same thing but may take a little longer. You can contact me and I can explain how to get it.
You may need something for comfort in the meantime which is where you question first started. Boric acid suppositories are a well known natural help. At the end of a study of 150 patients, boric acid vaginal suppositories resulted in a higher cure rate (63.6%) compared to fluconazole (28.8%). This is not to say the yeast won't come back without the probiotic help I mentioned above.
I hope I gave you some welcome information. Please feel free to call if you would like some more details.
Regards,
M.
I've never heard of the boric acid treatment. Have you spoken with your doctor?
A lot of time if a women has an infection and is sexually active with someone. That can be passed back and forth. You need to both be treated and abstain from contact for about a week.
Then, be pro-active about keeping them gone. Yogurt with live cultures helps a lot with female health. There are other foods that also have the probiotics in it if you don't like yogurt.
But see your doctor to make sure it isn't something else. If you're self-diagnosing, and treating with over the counter meds, you could have just gotten it wrong. It happens all the time. Nothing to be embarrassed about.
I have never had this problem before but I had a friend who had yeast infections every month and she said they finally found out that it was mainly to do with the fact that her husband drank beer every day (not alot but a couple a day) and they would have sex and it was coming from the yeast in his beer. When he cut back on his beer and they had sex with him having no alcohol in his system she didn't get yeast infections. Not sure if this is your case or not just throwing that out there.
I had that problem while I was prego. I found that keeping everything completely clean shaven helped. As well as eating yogurt and using dove for sensitive skin body wash.
I never heard of the boric acid..sorry.
D., You can buy acidophilus at the store, or enzymes at the health food store. You probably have too much sugar in your diet. Try laing off all of the refined sugars and swithc to whole wheat unbleached items or rice foods.
I have used boric acid suppositories. I used a product called Yeast Arrest. They have boric acid, oregon grape root, and calendula. They do work great. But, the best thing to do is to cut sugar out of your diet. I know it's difficult, but the yeast will continue to come back. The suppositories are really just a quick fix.
2 things you can concider. First, is your man drinking enough water? I had a similar situation happen and it was because he was not drinking enough water. If this isn't the problem, concider changing her birth control. Have had that as a problem also. Discuss it with your Gyno and they can possible change the kind of birth control that your one. This may help.
Hi D.! It's important to look at the potential causes rather than treatments first. Get to the root of the problem then treat. Since you are experiencing yeast infections frequently, look at getting checked for diabetes(scary yes but even scarier untreated), have your partner checked for yeast infection (very easy for him to re-infect you), urination and cleaning up after intercourse can make a big difference and wear cotton underwear. Good luck and feel better!
I used to have the same problem. A doctor recommended acidopholis capsules or just eating a yogurt once a day. I'm allergic to dairy so I took the capsules with great results. Now they make a soy yogurt with the acidopholis in it and I eat one every day and NEVER get yeast infections anymore. If you take antibiotics, it kills the good bacteria in your vagina, as well. Acidopholis puts it back. So especially after a round of antibiotics, take the capsules or eat yogurt!

D., I haven't heard about boric acid capsule use, so I can't offer advice in that area.
However, I would urge you to see your general practitioner w/ this complaint, as frequent yeast infections are sometimes associated with diabetes.
Also, the constant use of pantiliners or wearing synthetic panties can be the culprit. Everything I've read says to abstain from pantiliners and to always wear cotton panties. It seems the cooler we keep "the southern hemisphere", the less chance for yeast development!
Hope this may be of help :-)
never heard of that and wouldn't touch it without talking to your doctor. I know it is hard with things that might be embarassing, but honey, they have heard it all before! One more thing I thought of when one of the other responses said to let it "breath" down there. It is good not to wear panties at night, this gives you hours of "breathing". Good luck
If you are frequently on antibiotics, this can cause yeast infections. If this is the case you might want to look into taking probiotics to replace the good bacteria that is being destroyed. The best one I have found is Ultra Probiotics by Garden of Life. Another thing you might consider is your diet. If you are consuming a lot of carbs containing yeast you may be feeding the infection. Try eating yogurt with live cultures (Activia is the one I use). Also consider drinking aloe vera juice to help restore balance in your digestive tract. Hope one of these ideas helps you. Best of luck!
Hi D.,
I am a huge advocate for boric acid for vaginal infections. I was first told about this when I was having my babys 15 years ago. I had constant recurring infections during pregnancy. My midwife made some capsules for me and in one day the infection was gone. Everyone that I have recommended this to has come back thanking me. It should be common knowledge it is such a simple remedy.
i know how you feel. ever since i got pregnant i've had more yeast infections than ever! but they're super mild. the best advice i can give is to CHANGE YOUR DIET! stay away from sweets and yes, chocolate is your worst enemy! take a good probiotic in the beginning (about two to three tbsp if it's liquid, which i prefer, three times daily). i usually buy the strawberry flavored liquid one at whole foods (it's in the vitamins aisle). it basically tastes like concentrated yogurt. i was told to eat lots of yogurt during the pregnancy and because of it i still have a hard time eating it! just say no to yeast-filled foods of all kinds. no bread, no pasta, no sugar, for TWO WHOLE WEEKS. millet bread is a great substitute. i ate a lot of rice and veggies. you might crave sugars constantly as i did, but you have to remain strong. the cravings come from your body telling you that the yeast is dying off and your body wants more to get it's fix! (this is also why we crave sweets after dinner, EVEN when we are totally full for example)
works like a charm for me every time. i haven't had to buy a single cream or anything since. as soon as i can feel it getting a little too itchy down there, i know i've eaten too much candy, and i start the regimen right away! hahaha
the way i see it, if i can't pronounce it and i have no clue what it is chemically composed of, i shouldn't be putting it in my body. period.
good luck! and of course, feel free to let me know if you have any questions! i feel your pain
Boric acid capsules was the only treatment that worked for me
after trying everything that the doctor precribed.
Your OB/GYN may be able to tell you what kind of yeast you have with the swab test. I always go to the doctor when I feel I have an infection.
I take an acidophilus capsule everyday.
Everyone's body is different so the doctor may be able to help.
Also, it is a good idea to cut out as much sugar as you can.
I have a hard time with that since I love sweets!
Good luck to you!
Definitely get checked for Type II Diabetes, and take a look at your diet. How much refined sugar and processed foods (cereals, chips, bagels, sodas, etc.) are you consuming?
You should not be trying to use medicines, but instead getting to the root cause of the problem.

I had the same problem with chronic yeast infections and I did a lot of research on it. I have found that probiotics found at your local health food store work great. In the beginning you will have die off effect but it's normal. If at any time you had to go on an antibiotic you need to replenish your body with a probiotic. Antibiotics kills all bacteria and probiotic restores good bacteria.Probiotics do a lot more for your body than just kills yeast. There are many benefits for taking probiotics. There is also Olive Leaf extract and this has many benefits too,but I would reaserch both of these product. To find which one is best for you. You can research it online or talk to your health food store. It helped me and I have not had to worry about it yet! I don't recommend boric acid capsules! I know boric acid kills insects and rodents, I'm not sure if its the same thing. I wouldn't want you to put that in your body.
My sis and I had frequent yeast infections when we were on the very low dose birth control pills, for me it was Junel I am not sure which one my sis was on. If you are on a very low dose b/c pill ask the dr to switch you to a different one, I switched to tri-sprintec (generic for Ortho Tri-cyclen) and have not had a problem since.
I have know idea about the boric acid capsules, but I was told for 15 years that I had chronic yeast infections. From age 20 until 35 years old. Then, I went to Dr. Hyler in Orange Park and he said that it was endometriosis(sp). I was suprised that that is what it was because I had given birth to 3 babies and had easy pregnancies. Usually if you have endometriosis, you can't get pregnant. I wish that all the Drs. that I had been to for all those years would have just checked for that. It would have saved me a lot of pain and aggrevation in the long run. HTH :)
