I highly recommend the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility." If you have PCOS (as do I), then your cycles can be very long (mine average around 50 days). If you ovulate at all (I haven't in about a year), it can very late. Your ovulation isn't based on dates, but on hormone (LH) surges. Rely on your temping (as well as cervical fluid and position) to correctly predict and record ovulation. It's very frustrating, but you're already off to a great start with temping! Best of luck!

I have PCOS too and have had infertility now for 5 yrs. Yes, I regularly ovulate on day 18-21. They do a day 21 blood draw to look at progesterone assuming that you ovulated on day 14, and alot of people do not ovulate on day 14. If your charting your temps and graphing them, you should notice like the day before ovulation your temp dips a little and the of course spikes when its all over. Watch it closely next month and have the doc do a progesterone 7 days after you peak on your temp that way its accurate. Like I said I've been dealing with infertility for 5 yrs and have done extensive research (and I'm in the medical field) so please PM me if you have any other questions.

Yes you definitely can ovulate late! I, too, have PCOS but conceived without fertility assistance with my last child by doing BBT charting. It was a particularly stressful month and I ovulated on day 41 of my cycle. I had the temperature shift and it remained high at day 57. I took a test and voila! I was pregnant.

Like others have mentioned, the Toni Weschler Taking Charge of Your Fertility book is awesome! You can also go to www.fertilityfriend.com for free education and charting tools.

I did not have PCOS, but a friend did. Her and husband tried for years. When they gave up, he started his own business, she started running marathons she ended up pregnant. Their lives got busy with other things, and it happened. Not sure about the whole ovulation question, but wanted to encourage ya, that it can and it does happen. Good luck.

I have a longer cycle so I generally ovulate around day 20. As long as your luteal phase is at least 10 days in length implantation can occur. Good luck.

Many people ovulate after day 14. You are definitely not alone. I would suggest paying attention to how long your cycle is. If you are getting your period on day 35 (for example), count back about 14 days and that is when you are ovulating. Also, you might want to talk to your doctor (OBGYN) about having him/her ultrasound you so that you can see when you are ovulating. That helps a lot.
