What movies are good for the whole family? Interesting, entertaining, and not mind-numbingly stupid or ridiculous, and hopefully has a good message.
(for children 8 and up)

What can I do next?

The Butter Cream Gang is a great movie, a little older. But it has a greatmessage behing it. On our own there is another great message movie. They both are a little old but the kids will really like them those are just a few i can think of, right off hand.

I'm not sure if you mean in the theatre or not, but the movies we like (we try to watch what we'd let our kids watch) are Bridge to Terabithia, Secondhand Lions, October Sky, Holes (kind of cheesy? but still fun), Facing the Giants was pretty good, The Last Mimzy... these are just a few favorites. If you would like more suggestions let me know, I've tried hard to find good clean movies that are fun for adults and kids, so I have several in my library, even if they are older. Let me know if you want more titles.

We just watched Martian Child.(with John & Joan Cusack) I thought it was very family friendly and had a good message to children that it's ok to be different. Also it was creative and entertaining my 5 (girl) and 7 yr old (boy) both kept quiet and interested for the whole thing.

I really liked Chronicles of Narnia for the whole family. It was entertaining for my husband and I as well as my four year old.
Depending on how old your children are they might also like National Treasure. It is also entertaining and clean.
Have you tryed A Night at the Museum? It is also one i would suggest with kids as well as an adult.

My kids love the old Movies like the original Star Wars and Superman movies. They are girls, but totally love them. Ever After is also a good one. They love anything Peter Pan, especially Hook. My year old likes Musical like The Sound of Music. Another good classic is Swiss Family Robinson. Hope that gives you a few suggestions.

Enchanted, Bridge to Terabithia, Pollyanna, Swiss Family Robinson, Little Princess, Secret Garden, Night at the Museum, Narnia, Secondhand Lions, Water Horse, Cars, Incredibles, Peter Pan (live action with Jeremy Sumpter and Jason Isaacs), Harry Potter, the Game Plan, Nancy Drew...plenty of options. Obviously some are geared more towards girls, but I've had success with even Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. My 19-year-old football playing cousin says it's one of his favorites...right along with Swiss Family. It just depends on your kids. Will they watch old movies? Will they tolerate black and white, because there are more options.
