My son always leaks through his diapers in the night and what a hassel changing his sheets everyday. he is only 20 mths old and I know breaking him from his before bed bottle will help but while I am in the process does anyone know of a good night time diaper??? I have changed it before I go to bed myself but that wakes him up then he's up for awhile. And he wears huggies I thought those were one of the best diapers. Thanks A.

What can I do next?

When my kids were in diapers I found that Luvs worked the best on leaks and everything else you need a diaper for. They are generally the least expensive and hold the most. Give them a try if you haven't already.

I had the same problem with both my kids! A good friend of mine told me to try 'Diaper Doublers' and it WORKED! No more soggy sheets and babies!! They are basicly kind of like a maxi-pad that you put in side the diaper whenever you need you kids extra dry and comfy. They sell them at Babies-R-Us, and they are like 3 dollars for 30. They are cheep, easy and they work GREAT! You have got to at least try them!!

I too have had the experience with my son waking up soaked in his own pee. I found a product at babies R Us and it is in the diaper isle. They are cotten inserts (kinda like maxi pad but with no sticky stuff) They are a heaven send! I use 1 a night so a package lasts 1 month. They are very inexpensive too. Like $2 something a package. They are on the bottom shelf in a blue and pink package. You should give them a try! C.

best diaper there ever has been is luvs i wouldn't know what to do with out luvs. i have never had any beds wet sense i have started to use them, but with any diaper make sure that they fit if one is to big you get leaks, and if to small they won't hold what your child is doing through the night. i have used luvs for over nine years and they are by far the best that i have used or will ever use.
hope this works
you can also try smaller amounts of liquid while trying to break him that might work. good luck

I like Pampers way better than huggies because my daughter has had the same problem. Use the CRUISERS for night and the regular ones for day. I find that works really well. Also, make sure it's big enough for him-- maybe go up a size-- it'll hold more and won't leak out. :) Let me know how that works!

You're right, getting rid of that will help. I would decrease the volume, then switch it to water or offer a sippy cup instead. Beyond that, huggies are not necessarily the "best" diapers, although I'm sure they want you to think so. Different diapers work for different people, that being said, here are a few ideas. 1. experiment with a different brand at bedtime, 2. try the next size up, 3. Huggies Overnites (the overnight diapers, not the "diapers-in-disguise" meant for older kids ("Goodnights") You could also try the rubber pants that go over cloth diapers, though that may be uncomfortable. Pull-ups will not help, they actually hold less liquid since they are meant to be a potty training aid. If none of those work you may just have to find a middle of the night time that works for a change until he is off that bottle, so that's probably where you should focus. Good luck!

I too have a son who is 20 months. I find that Luvs holds really well and their alot cheaper, I tried Huggies once before and they just don't work for my son, but when my daughter was in diapers they worked great for her. So I guess maybe they are made better for girls than boys..don't know? But try LUVS or Pampers they work the best.

I'm a pampers mommy ;) With my son whoses now 3, we have always used pampers...he still wears a diaper at night and still is more than willing to wear a pamper verses a boy boys pull up thing (THANK GOD CAUSE WE DO NOT HAVE NIGHTS DOWN AT ALL). I used pampers when I got them for a shower gift and never liked them for whatever reason. Pampers cost a lil more, but I've never had a leak problem.

P.S. If you call the pampers 1-800 number and ask, they will mail you coupons!!!

Man, it's been awhile for the diaper problems.. but I do remember very well Huggies, are pricy and not worth it. First off, around your son's age it is harder to keep them dry. They are wetting more then they did as an infant, and they are alot more mobile which changes their position and streches the diapers out. With my first son we used a generic brand called "drypers" that worked wonderfully. I don't see them in the stores much anymore. Other diaper brands I've used are Luvs or Pampers. I noticed the ones that are "clothlike" protect the least. Out of all the big name brands, Pampers were the best in our house. If your son is just a bigger night-time wetter like my oldest was, try buying a small package of the dipes made for night-time, and use them just at night.. but buy a cheaper kind for during the day. Unfortunatly with the new advances they have attempted on making diapers more earth-friendly it depletes some of the quality. No happy mediums I guess. If all else fails.. I beleive they still sell the plastic diaper covers they used to make for cloth diapered babies. You can always slip one of those over his dipe and keep it from leaking onto the sheets.

I have found suprisingly enough that cvs brand is a good diaper. It is cheap and it works. I used them on my kids because I tryed everything and they would leak too. but one day I went to cvs and bought the cvs brand and it was cheap and they always have reallly good sales on them and they actually worked good. I tried them and used them when my 6 yr old was a baby and used them for her until she became potty trained and then I used them on my next kid too. Try them I was surprised.

Hello! How are you? From experience I know that Huggies are not a very good diaper for babies over a year. They leak a lot. Luvs are better and cheaper. You could try Goodnites, they are made by Pull-ups. My little brother (6) has trouble waking up at night and the goodnites are about the only thing that helps insure he has a dry bed. Or you can try putting plastic pants over his diaper.

I had this problem when I initially used the sample huggies that came in mail then I didn't even bother to buy any more huggies. That is when I switched to Pampers Cruisers (Note: Not the regular Pampers but pampers Cruisers). I seriously felt that they were much better than huggies. It costs the same as huggies supreme. So no budget burning there....:) Hope this helps.

Hi A.,

I thought Huggies were the best too, but I have found that LUVS & Pampers work a lot better. My daughter sometimes wakes up with a fully diaper & I'm surprised that they don't leak. Also, make sure you are using the right size. My daughter is a little peanut...16 lbs at almost 1 year! She is in a size 3. I also have a cloth lined rubber pad that I have under the sheet just in case. It helps from having to wash everything! Hope this helps!

I would try Luvs or Pampers if the Huggies don't seem to be working. I used Luvs when my son was a baby and they worked great, but when he started walking at about 12 months they would cut into his legs, so I switched to Huggies, which worked great for him. There isn't a diaper out there that is going to work on every kid. As someone else suggested, try adjusting the size...having a diaper that is too small or too large will also have more leaks.
Who knew when we had kids that diapers would be so complicated! :)

My son will be 2 in about 2 weeks, and he had the same problem as your son. People will tell you Pampers and Huggies are great, but they are not. Take it from a mother who just went through this... there is absolutely nothing special about expensive diapers. The only diapers that worked for my son were LUVS. You should really look into them. They are cheaper, and will save you money... and also work a whole lot better.

WOW! You've gotten some good advice! However, I have a 16 month old son. I've tried the wal-mart brand, huggies, pampers, luvs and believe it or not much more! I've found that Huggies Supreme (I think that's what they are) work the best. I buy them at Costco. They are actually cheaper than the costco brand as well as Luvs and Pampers. Sam's Club has the least expensive diapers I've found- called Smiles. They work great, and as long as I have my daughter in the right size (usually one size up from whatever the brand claims), they are fine. You may want to go a size up for nighttime use. That is what I had to do for awhile, and it worked. Until you get it figured out, you may want to get an extra mattress pad, and layer the mattress pad, sheet, another mattress pad, and then the top sheet. That way if he does leak, you can just pull off the dirty sheet and mattress pad, and have a clean set underneath. Good luck!

Update- I just went to Sam's Club yesterday, and they changed the name! They are just Member's Mark Diapers now. Still exactly the same product, just packaged differently and have more diapers in the box.

I have been a big fan of Pampers for 18 years, I went through every known diaper on the market and have found that Pampers are the best, especially for overnight. I am now the proud grandmother of a 11 month old boy, and my daughter is now convinced as well, that Pamper's are the choice. The fit is the best and they are definitely the most absorbent. Now they have all kinds of names like swaddlers, which work great at night.

They are the SAME as pampers(made by P&G) except a little less of the absorba stuff. They cost a little less. You can get them at walmart for @18$ a case. I usually by these for night time only and use white cloud during the day.
Everyone I know including myself had problems with HUGGIES. They are the WORSE diapers ever and not worth the money. Infact even the Kroger's brand not to bad. You may consider that you have him in the wrong size and need to go up one size. This is the most common reason for leakage.

I personally think that huggies are horrible. When my son was in diapers I really liked luvs. Also another thing that mothers of little boys forget are to make sure that their little penis is pointing down. I had that issue too for a while. They will fill the front of that diaper up if its in the wrong direction. That way when they pee during the night its just as full in the back as it is in the front. This is because they have more room.

you can try limiting his liquid a few hours before bed. and then of course as you are doing try to make his bottles less and less at bedtime. that way if he does go in the night, it wont be so much that it saturates the diaper to the point of leaking. also, double check to make sure it is on snugly.
we use any diaper that is on sale...luvs, giant eagle brand, etc...we have never had a problem with leaking. so i hope this helps.

Hello A.,

I have a 12 month old son and we use pampers during the day but he was leaking thru them really bad and every night so the best diaper during the night are the Huggies OVERNIGHTS for boys. you might want to go up one size so it's even bigger b/c that's what we did. my son was leaking thru his diaper for 2 weeks and we couldn't figure out why but this diaper has given him a dry bed and clothes since then. so i hope this helps you out.

Believe it or not the best diaper I have found that doesn't leak are the K-mart name brand "Little Ones". I had the same problem. They are also A LOT cheaper!!

I don't know if you've tried this or not but I'll mention it anyhow. What about giving him more solid, filling foods for dinner so that he doesn't want so much bottle b/4 bed? I had to give my little guy more solids, too, b/c of leaky diapers. I've tried them ALL & none of them beat the leak. Hope I could help :)

Hi,
I was having the same problem with my son at that age. Huggies are just about worthless in my opinion. I use the Pampers Baby-Dry, but like I said my son was the Hoover Dam at that age so I bought the Pampers one size larger for night time and that seemed to help alot. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with my daughter. I found Huggies Overnights at Toys R Us believe it or not. I have never found them anywhere else though. She has not leaked through one yet! Hope this helps.

I used to use huggies and found that they were always leaking for me too. I changed to Luvs and have had no prblems with them. My daughter sleeps 12 hours through the night and has never leaked with the Luvs. She even gets a night time sippy full of milk. Hope this helps

Hi, A..
My son went through that at around that age and I went through the same thing. I bought Huggies "Overnights," I think is what they're called. They worked for us. There is a Goodnights brand, I think, but those, as far as I remember, were for older kids.
Hope that helps you.

I have found that Target brand diapers are the best! They are cheap but they work. I use the size 2 for my 5 month old and the pull up like ones for my almost 3 year old. They work better than any name brand or generic diaper I have found.
