Finding Preschools That Are More than Just Daycare

I am trying to find " Schools" preschools for my daughter. We are in the North Canyon area, 16th st. and Union Hills area. I was given some GREAT info about the program at North Canyon High School, but unfortunately they only have it during their spring semester. That leaves the rest of the year to figure out what to do. I don't need daycare. I want her to go to a school. Almost 3 and potty trained.

What can I do next?

I have two children that went to Northwest Christian Preschool on 43rd Ave. just south of Bell. I know that it is a little far, but it is an awesome school. You will not be disappointed. They go from preschool all the way up through high school. Their website is: http://www.nwccschool.org

Hi P.,

I take my son to Susie's Mama Bear near 12th Street & Bell. Its right behind Fletcher Tires. Very reasonable rates and my son has a BLAST every time he goes. I hope that this helps!

We live just north of you on 16th St, and our DD goes to the International School of Arizona. It is about a 20 minute drive and is located near 90th St and the 101. It is a language immersion school and kids can start as soon as they turn 2.

DD just completed her first year last year (2 year old class) and is in the Spanish program. They also have a French program. The teachers only speak the program language to the kids, but they have an English teacher come in 2 days a week.

The expectation at the end of the first year is that they understand Spanish (or French) but probably will not be talking in Spanish. We were very pleased when out of no where one day she started counting to 10 in Spanish. She also sings some songs around the house that she learned in school.

I know that they work on numbers, colors, shapes, behavior/emotions, music, art, identifying objects, and a few more areas I am forgetting. We felt that learning a second language at a very early age was one of the best gifts we could give our children.

Until Kindergarten, you can choose number of days and full or half days. DD went 3 full days. Next year she will go 4 half days (DS will be in all day kindergarten so we don't have a transportation issue).

Please let me know if you have any questions. The schools website is www.isaz.org.
