My daughter is 16 months old and has her very first real stuffy nose. She has had plenty of colds, but they were always the cough/runny nose type. She has had little sniffles before, too, but nothing ever like this. She had trouble sleeping last night and when she woke up, her nose was full. I started wiping her nose and it took 6 tissues and 5 wipes before it would even stop coming out. It is really tick, sticky, and green if that matters. I have no idea what to do that will help her since she is still so little. She is already taking in plenty of fluids, too. Thanks so much for the help!!
Saline rinses, sucking the goop out, and plenty of fluids (as you are doing) and a humidifier. I also have had some luck with baby vicks vapor rub under the nose (just a little). If it's green, it MAY BE and infection. If it doesn't improve in a few days or if she is running a fever, I'd go to the Dr. Good luck!

buy the nose frida...it sucks out the boggies...the best ever. We use it all the time on our son if he is sick. It really helps at this age when kids don't know how to blow their nose yet.
Vick's baby rub- I wipe it into a tissue and tuck the tissue into my little one's pj top... If it's an open top I'll use a giant bandaid and stick it to the inside of her shirt....
Vicks makes vapor pads too that you can use with their humidifiers, and there are plug-ins too that you can use the pads in...
I know it seems odd- but saline will help flush the irritation out and moisturize her nasal tissue.
Take her to the doc or call- too- the snot could indicate a nasal infection

Don't know how she would do at that age with a Neti Pot (you can get them just about anywhere) but it works like a charm! If not, any time of saline rinse or spray. Also, try running a humidifier with some tea tree oil inside.
If it's green, time to go see the doctor because that is an infection. Try the Little Noses Saline drops, also buy a nose suction. They hate it, but it's the only way to get the goop out at that age. She's old enough to have a pillow, prop her head up at night and you also might try a product like Vick's Vapor Rub on her chest and the humidifier at night.
Saline nasal spray (Ocean is a name brand) will help get that all moving out. When my son was that age he hadn't mastered blowing his nose yet, but if i shot the spray up there, it would loosen it enough and then make him sneeze and out it would come. Not really a pleasant experience for mom, but what a relief to baby :-)
I always use the saline drops Little Noses. Just put a few drops in each nostil and then use a syringe to suck the nasty stuff out... also, try using a cool mist humidifier at night when she is sleeping...
If it's any color other than clear, it probably denotes an infection. Take her to the doctor.
