I have already read the advice on the activities and how to keep her entertained(found really good ideas). We are flying from Tampa to Minneapolis(3 hrs 45 min) then we get on another plane which is only a 45 min. flight. I am curious on what they do with strollers do I have to check them in or can I take it on the plane so that I can have it during the layover. Do I need to buy an umbrella stroler or will her regular stroller work? Please help I am so confused with how this all works.

What can I do next?

Usually, they will let you take the stroller to the door of the airplane, they will stow it for the trip and then it will be at the door when you disembark. Have a safe trip!

You are allowed to take a stroller up to the gate. They will tag it before you go down the jetway, then right before getting on the plane, they will stow it for you. It will be the first thing off the plane when you arrive at the new gate, as long as you are switching planes. Super easy! Have fun!

Most airlines allow you to take a stroller right up to the plane. Check with the airline company that you are flying with and see what the weight limits are (they are all different). It's considered a carry on like your purse. We went on a trip acouple of years ago with a 6 month old and a 2 year old, we had light under 12 lb each strollers. We were able to stroll the babies right into the plane then they took the strollers from us and "ticketed" them. When the plane landed, the strollers were there waitting for us right outside the entrance of the plane. However be prepared for the security checks. We had to take the babies out of the strollers and fold them up every time we went through a check point. That was a hassel but still worth having the strollers. Have a great trip.

They give you a special tag for your stroller at the boarding gate. You can use the strolled down to the actual door. Then collapse it and the flight crew will stow it last once all the passengers are boarded. Then they bring it out ot the destination, usually before you have time to get off the place but you may have to wait ocassionally.

Your best bet with the stroller is to bring a small umbrella type stroller. Make sure you take it with a luggage tag. You an bring it all the way down the ramp to the plane door, and then the flight attendants will grab it for you and stow it. It'll be out there waiting for you when you get off the plane after the first leg of your flight. I've always found that they're really quite good about accomodating people with strollers.

Hi N.,

I just went on a flight to Seattle with my 5 month old and 2 year old. You can bring the stroller to the gate with you. Before you board the plane, let the attendant know you want to check the stroller. They will give you a tag to put on the stroller and you can bring it up to the plane. YOu'll have to fold it before boarding the plane and the strollers will be put underneath the plane for you. ONce your flight is completed, they bring the strollers back up so you can use it during your layover.

It's been a little bit since I flew last, but usually you can use the stroller all the way upto when you board. You still want to put a little tag on it, but when you get off, they usually have it right there when you exit the plane. I think they store it in a fairly easy to get location. Hope this helps.

The gate attendant will give you a ticket to put on your stroller. When you get to the end of the gangplank (right before you get on the plane) fold up the stroller and put your ticket on it and leave it at the end - you will probably see other strollers there too. When you disembark wait for your stroller there.

maybe a little late but strollers can be gate checked and then they return them to you at the door of the plane so you can have it for layover and when you finally land at your destination
