I'm finally pregnant with my second child after having two miscarriage's and very excited. We are still not out of the woods since I'm only 6 weeks along but, staying positive. I have been very congestive and sinus headache and would like to know if there is anything I can take for it? I have been using a cool mist humidifier, and a neti pot and still can't breath.
Hot tea I love to drink but can't remember which tea is safe for baby.
Help with any ideas to relieve the congestion, thanks

What can I do next?

Lots of extra water will help. (Good anyway for pregnancy.)

Most herbal teas are safe. This site gives you a bit more info, along with a list of teas and their benefits/risk factor during pregnancy. http://americanpregnancy.org/pregnancyhealth/herbaltea.html

A non-medicated saline mist might help as well, for times in between the neti pot.

I also slept with those anti-snoring nasal strips (I think I liked breath right the best.), and hung out with them on when I was home. They helped a lot!

Mom,

Congratulations!!!

Call your OB/GYN and ask them. I know there are a lot of great meds out there that are safe to take while pregnant...I'm not a doctor or a nurse and even if I were...I would NOT tell you what you could take on-line.

You can also ask a pharmacist.

As to tea? I would stick with herbal teas...raspberry, peppermint, etc.

Just remember - moderation....

Good luck!! i hope you are better soon!!

Eucalyptus oil sprinkled on the walls of your shower works really well! You can also use Vicks or similar. They have little sticks that look like chapstick that you can just carry around and inhale, I used that quite a bit when I was pregnant. Also, if you like it, really spicy food helps clear everything, especially wasabi! Remember only cooked sushi, though :)

Any type of tea is fine! I would suggest using lemon and honey in tea for congestion. If this doesn't get better soon, you might want to be checked for a sinus infection.
