Does anyone have suggestions on where to find quality swim lessons for infants (6 months of age)within commuting distance of Fitchburg, Wisconsin? Specific instructors that you have found to be good as well as agency where they teach would be appreciated.

Also, any advice that you have about the best age to begin lessons and why. Any information related to this topic would be appreciated.

Hi,

I just started my 7 month old in swimming lessons at kittleson swim school. You might want to check this out. It's a new pool and its awesome!! They are located right off of Pd and verona Rd. You might need to call one of the other kittleson to get the phone number.

I have seen first hand the quality of the swim instruction at Kittelson Swim School in Fitchburg (close to Verona Rd). I just started taking my daughter there (she's 5), after just 5 weeks of lessons, she was swimming on her own. (Sessions are about 13 weeks long). I had taken her to other places for lessons previously (YMCA, Athletic clubs); the class sizes were so large and only a few weeks long, so there was no way she could possibly learn to swim on her own. Sorry, I don't have first hand knowledge of infant classes, but with the quality of instruction we received, I could almost gurantee Kittelson Swim School would be your best bet. I know a lot of their teaching is based on repetition. Check out their website for more info. The classes may be a few extra dollars per class, but it is worth every penny.

We went to an open swim at Kittelson (right behind Kennedy Hahn near PD & Verona Rd) during a swim lesson for the little ones and it seemed really cute and fun; the kids were enjoying it. They sing some songs and have things for the kids to play with.

MSCR has a summer swimming lessons program that I just signed my 16 month old up for. It's for 6-24 months. It's at the Goodman Pools in Verona (on Hwy. PD). Check out mscr.org. The classes are filling up very fast.

I see this topic is a couple years old, but I wanted to reply with my suggestion for swimming lessons at SwimWest. They are on Nesbitt Road in Fitchburg. Their program is so great, the instrcutors and staff really care about their program and it shows every time I see a nervous or crying child. There's never any frustration on the part of the teachers. They show a lot of compassion for the students. I had the owner for a baby class about a year ago and she was awesome!! We had Miss Caitlin after that and she was great, too. I would choose them over Kittleson just based on price alone. Its the same format of lessons (small classes, warm water) for a less expensive price. Especially the baby classes!
