Hi Mamas
I am 5 weeks pregnant and have flu like symptoms which started today.
I have backache,aching legs,sore throat,runny nose.
Did any of you experience this in early pregnancy ?
I didn't with my first. I thought I will ask here first as I don't want to be running to the doctor with every ailment.
Thanks in advance
B. k.

Before I could officially confirm my second pregnancy, I had a weekend where in the span of just a few hours I went from being fine to being exhausted, shivering, headache, body ache etc. That lasted for the weekend and for almost a week after that I was still drained and had no energy. When I was finally able to confirm that I was pregnant, the doctor said that my symptoms were not uncommon. I must have been about 5-6 weeks pregnant. This definitely did not happen with my first!

Yes-and don't be afraid to go to the doctor-you're pregnant and that makes this a special case. You may want to get your throat swabbed to rule out strep-rest as much as you can and drink lots of fluids. Take care!

Yes i did. I am now pregnant with my second child and i am 11 weeks along. And at the very beginning i had the same flu like symptoms. My whole body would ach, sore throat, and runny nose. I would take like 3 hot baths a day to help my body from aching. I did not have this with my first either. But it went away after about 3 days.

Hi B.-
so you know they say every pregnant is different, and some of this can be a result of that. But I only live 25 min away thru caldecot and the wacky weather here is something to keep in mind. They are saying colds, sore throats, and croup (in babies) is really high right now due to our warm, then cold, then warm again, then cold and rainy weather. The constant change is keeping our bodies off, it can't keep up. Add on to that all the hormonal changes and physical changes in your body, you're bound to get a little suck and worn down. Plus your 1st child is probably carrying germs from preschool or playdates or parks or grocery store. I'd say keep an eye on things. Take it as easy as possible. Any really drastic change with a fever, call doc. Good luck and hoping you have an easy pregnancy. :-)
