The American Academy of Pediatrics now recommends children under the age of five to get the shot, as they are still in a high risk range. I have gotten my son the flu shot every year that he's been able to(when the shortage happened he was out of the high risk zone of that time). It is complete nonsense that the flu shot will give you the flu. When a person gets the flu around the time of a shot, it is because they were already exposed to the virus, and it was still incubating when the shot was given.
