Does anyone know where I can find organic baby food? I have tried the nature's best but it seems like they don't have a very wide variety(I'm looking for green beans) & I'm wondering if there are any other brands & where I can buy them.

I make my baby food it is very easy, but if you don't have the time Central Market and Whole foods carry Happy Baby fresh frozen organic baby food, I have not tried it yet but plan to take some on vacation with us. I have heard it is very good. You can find it in the freezer section.

Costco!!! We buy organic frozen vegetables and I cook them in the steamer for baby. There are organic beans, soy beans, carrot, mix vegetables, broccoli, peas, raspberry, blueberry.... and it is much cheaper than to buy special baby's food.

I used to go to Whole Foods and stock up, they have a great selection and it's cheaper. Target also has a pretty good selection. Whole Foods also have frozen organic baby food called "Happy Baby Food" that my daughter just LOVED (www.happybabyfood.com). These were the only green beans that she would eat. They also have some unusual flavors for +9 months, that I was surprised she liked, but was a nice change from carrots, peas etc.

Hi K.:

Tom Thumb has their own organic brand of baby food. It's called "O". They have a great selection. You would think it would be pricey considering it comes from Tom Thumb, but it really isn't. They also carry the Gerber organic. Also, Earth's Best.

Be careful with the Earth's Best, though. Most of their things are organic, but some things are not. Be sure to read the labels really well.

Hi,
I made all my baby food and it was so easy. Just steam the green beans and puree them in a blender. Freeze portions in ice cube trays, dump the trays and store in freezer bags. Take out what you need the night before, thaw out in the fridge and heat up in toaster oven (or you could microwave but I don't). If you forget to thaw just put in toaster oven for longer.

I love making it myself because I know exactly what is in it and it is much less expensive.

I look in the reduced produce section at Kroger for organic apples. Cut up (leave peels on), cook to soften in pot with a little water, puree in blender and you have applesauce. Freeze in portions.

Right now you can get great local produce at farmer's markets to stock your freezer.

Here are a couple websites about homemade baby food. Many others on the web.

I used Earth's Best and another brand sold at Kroger in the organic section...I'm sorry I can't remember the name! But they had a little more to choose from. Gerber also has a few organic selections! Earth's Best is found at Market Street (Allen & McKinney), Kroger, Target, Babies & Toys 'R' Us, Whole Foods, probably Central Market. I hope this was of some help!

Why not make your own? It's so incredibly easy. Take a look at the book Super Baby Foods. There are also web sites out there. What I'd do was buy organic veggies and then make the baby food. I'd usually cook the veggies and serve some for dinner and make baby food out of the rest. Took maybe 20 minutes tops. Then you can freeze the food in ice cube trays. Very easy.

Market Street. There's one at Bethany and 75 in Allen. Otherwise, I'd say Central Market by Bush/Coit.

Hi,
don't know where you live but I have found the best selection of organic food (Earth's Best) at Sprouts in Plano. They have WAY more flavors than our regular grocery store. Also, you can buy it online. Many places have free shipping. Good Luck.

If you shop at Whole Foods you'll find a huge variety! And because they buy in bulk, it's even cheaper, by 10-20 cents per jar!

It's just as easy to buy frozen organic veggies at Whole Foods and you cook in a little bit of water and then put in the blender. Then freeze in ice cube trays, I like the silicone trays the best. link to tray at sur la table, but they have at Bed Bath too. http://www.surlatable.com/product/perfect+cube+ice+cube+t...
Then you just thaw out a few cubes at a time. I fed my baby about 1 cube per meal of 1-2 veggies.

Best of luck.

Kroger's store brand is the one we like the best. It is thicker than Nature's Best...It is not as watery and seems to have the best consistency for transitioning to thicker foods. They have more green options than I have seen. My son is one and I still buy their green stuff!
Usually it is in a section set apart from the other baby food...and since it is their store brand, it is only .79!!!
So trying one won't feel like such a waste!!!
Good luck.

Whole Foods has a great selection. That is where I bought most of my babies' food. A lot of times they put their own brand of organic baby food on sale, so you get even more savings. I have also used Tom Thumb's brand of organic baby food and they have a good selection as well.

Whole foods has a very large selection that should include green beans. What I prefer to do is buy frozen, organic veggies & pop them (defrosted) into my Magic Bullet to puree them as needed.

Yes... you can buy the Gerber brand of organic food at Target,Super Target, or Kroger. Also, Tom Thumb carries their own brand of organic food. I think you mean Earth's Best on that brand and I know for sure they have green beans and rice... I buy them all the time. I also know for sure that Target carries just plain organic green beans. Good for you doing organic!

Target has a great selection of Gerber and nature's best. Tom Thumb's own organic brand has some good ones also. If you are willing to order online, diapers. com has a good selection....oh and also if you look in the frozen foods section you can find some other choices.

Have you considered buying regular (big people food) green beans, cook them, and puree them to feed your baby instead of buying the food in jars? I don't recall my last 4 kids ever eating baby food out of the jar (I have 7). It's very easy to make your own, and less expensive. :) hth, T.

Not sure where you live, but I found Sprouts to have the largest selection. It is in Flower Mound area. They sell the earths best brand. Target sells a decent variety of Gerber generic. I used them when i was in a pinch and could not get to Sprouts.

Good luck!

Try whole foods or central market. They both carry the best variety that you will find, short of buying fresh organic and pureeing it yourself.
