Not sure if you are looking for advice on what to eat or understanding and dealing with food allergies in general. As far as what to eat, we just took my son to a nutritionist in Northbrook -- Bonnie Minski. She is very knowledgeable and helpful. As far as understanding food allergies in general -- there is a very good book by Scott Sicherer called "Understanding Your Child's Food Allergies." Every parent of a food allergic child should read it.

Try checking out some of the whole food grocery stores in your area. We have several in our area. Check your phone book for listings or go on line to see what stores are in your area. Also, ask your doctor if there is a support group of parents in your area-you could find other families coping with food allergies, share advice on how to handle it, and swap recipies. Try checking on line as well because a lot of vegan and vegetarian sites have food allergy friendly recipies. Barnes & Noble sells many great cook books regarding allergies as well and have many kid friendly recipies too.

my son allergic to soy, dairy, egg, peanut, tree nut and now apparently slightly to potatoe.

My advice? corn is the hardest. stay away from processed foods. good ol fruits, veggies, breads, bake your own breads, meats. oat meal. rice, noodles,

My husband was allergic to all above and corn and other things and ate a ton of veggies and sweet potatoes growing up. and pumpernickle bread for some reason.

cookies and all that stuff have corn syrup, that's gotta be really hard. but there's a ton of cookies and stuff you can make w/o it... just make a huge batch and freeze it.
and read labels. truely its not the end of the world when you get used to it. the issue is parties, school/daycare and being at other peoples homes. I have gotten very good at cooking eg: cupcakes w/frosting w/o egg or dairy and freezing them in case we have a birthday party or something to go to. but i've been doing this for almost 2 yrs!

Have you checked out foodallergy.org? Sponsored by FAAN (Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network). Great website with advice from other parents, recipes, food allergy notices and great products. My son's allergic to peanuts and we rely on FAAN regularly. Hope this helps.

I feel your pain. My daughter is allergic to corn, eggs, wheat and peaches. We still haven't figured out what to do and we are losing our minds with it. Thanks for sending this request. I can't wait to see what others have to say. YUCK!

Good luck!

Hi, a very nice lady left me a message on my blog and directed me to www.peanutallergy.com ( click on discussion board) It was a huge help in every way. But I have to warn you, take it in SLOWLY, very slowly. I was so overwhelmed by it at first, now it works as a great resource for me
