I also have looked for a co op and having found none settle for meijer for the more common stuff (the new one on 28th actually has a lot of great stuff) but for what I cant find I go to harvest health.
Does anyone know if a food co op in the grand rapids area that specializes in organic food? I can find a lot of the organic food i need at costco but am looking for something more. harvest health is so pricey and has a very limited shopping.

Hi A.,
It doesn't help right now but if the summer there is a Farmers market of fulton that is great. I find a lot of good things there. Just another reason why I can't wait for spring, lol.

Hello A.,
I am looking into starting a community garden. We don't want to pay the prices at the market either. I have asked my husband to clear some more trees on our property to make way for a garden this spring. If people in the community come and work it...they get to take home the produce from it. You can also get people in to teach us about some gardening techniques and such. I am currently getting eggs from my sister from her free-range chickens...and looking at other opportunities. Let me know what you think.

A., I am in the same pursuit. We moved to GR three years ago and I have missed my co-op. I have contacted that co-op to see about a group here, to no avail. There is a great store in Kalamazoo, Michigan called Sawalls. At times I find it worth the drive, but weekly shopping I do rely on Meijer. They are doing a better job carrying products, and are cheaper than Harvest Health. Contact Whole Foods Stores, they have one in Ann Arbor if enough people from this area request a store, maybe they will put one here. I think GR could support it.
I believe there is one on Alpine Ave.
