Hi,

Any ideas for free activities/events that I can enroll my almost 3 year old son during the summer? We are in the Malvern region. I thought swimming might be an option, but was surprised to see the monthly fees at local YMCAs. The library is the only option we have at this point. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Downingtown Regal (close to Wegmans) has free movies @ 10:00 almost every Tuesday and Wed. The shows are ones that are not currently showing - but are very kid friendly! We are going to see Veggie Tales either tomorrow or Wed. of this week. You can call them about what is showing!

a lot of the local orchards have activities on the weekend. also, Springfield Mall and Granite Run Mall both have kids clubs with events at least once a month. Barnes and Noble has a good storytime. I am working on a moms group with my church. you don't have to be a church member to participate. I can contact you with more details.

Lakeshore Learning Store in KOP has free Saturday craft classes for kids age 3 and up. If you go to Lakeshore's website, it gives you the dates, times, and craft for that week. I have friends whose kids are not yet 3 and they still participated, so if your son is almost 3, I'm sure it would be fine. As far as classes, don't know of any other free ones. However, there are lots of free places to take him around here.......Linvilla Orchards in Delaware County, Merrymead Farms in Worcester/Lansdale area, summer concerts at local parks, etc. Also, try a google search for Activities for Kids in Philadelphia area. I did that and it came up with a lot of ideas.

You can check your local Barnes & Nobles. I know they have some summer programs. Also check out any local state parks. When they do have activities they are usually free or at a low cost. The Philadelphia Zoo also has some activities that you can check out on their website. They do charge a fee but, if you are a member it is a lot cheaper. Longwood Gardens also has summer activities for kids your sons age. I'm new to the area so I don't know how far away these things are to you. Good luck on your search!
