My daughter vomits after she drinks pink lemonade and after she takes certain of the pinkish-red medications for children. Our conclusion is that she is allergic to some kind of artificial color that is in these items.
Help! My 4yr-old son was up much of the night vomiting. He vomited twice in his bed, twice in ours (but we got the bucket to him in time on ours, phew!). He vomited our bland dinner (chicken breast, cooked carrots, green beans and rice pudding). But at the end of each vomiting session, he had long, slimy, goopy strands of saliva hanging from his mouth. He was trying to spit out all this strange, thick saliva. Earlier in the day he'd been to a movie with a friend and her parents bought him a large pack of Welch's Fruit Snacks. I never buy these but he's had small amounts on occasion in the past. Ingredients include gelatin, carnuba wax and artificial colors. He probably ate at least half the 4.125 oz. bag. Question is, could the slimy ingredients in the fruit snacks have blocked his digestion and made him sick, or should I assume this is a stomach bug? Have fruit snacks ever caused indigestion in your kids? Today, should we limit his diet to crackers, applesauce, etc. or let him lead in what he's willing to eat? Would yogurt be OK after a night like last night or should we avoid dairy? This is only the second time in his life he's vomited and he attends daycare!
Considering he vomited for 12 hours straight, we now know this was a virus. He admitted his best friend at school threw up on Friday. He is feeling much better now and slowly getting back into eating and drinking. Question is, who's next in our household?!

Vomiting is awful. I think I'd rather have unmedicated dentistry than throw up. My husband's a sympathetic puker too, so I usually have double the mess! I sooo empathise with you, dear.
Unless he is vomiting greenish brown or hasn't had a bowel movement in several days to a week he is unlikely blocked.
And good for you about getting him to the buckets in time!
He could have picked up a bug at the movies. Rotavirus usually rears its ugly head at the most inopportune times! The slime could have been the mucus/acid in his stomach. It could have been partially digested fruit snacks. My kids devour them routinely with no side effects.
YES!! Limit him to the BRAT (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast) diet until he seems to keep it down well. A few spoons of his favorite yogurt should be ok, but not a whole lot at first. Take it easy.
Good luck and God Bless!
I wouldn't think it would have blocked his digestion but too much of anything can make you sick especially is he is not used to that type of food. Also, depending on how much vitamin C was in the fruit snacks (some are made with real fruit juice) then he may have to much vitamin C in his system which can cause you to get sick on your stomach. If he is fine now then I would allow him some yogurt but no other dairy. Yogurt has good bacteria that helps your digestion.
Hope he is feeling better soon!!
I would see how he is feeling tomorrow, if he does happen to have a stomach bug then dairy might not be suach a good idea. Scrambled eggs made without milk are an easy food to digest if hes feeling hungry. I don't think the fruit snacks would have made him that ill but I guess it could be a possibility. I agree that the slimy stuff is probably acid. My kids have gotten overloaded with fruit snacks a few times and they just got a sugar rush.
Hi V.,
If the ingredients that you list were the only ingredients, I don't think they would have caused it. If however, there was some type of fruit juice also, that is a possibility. Perhaps the rice pudding didn't sit well?
The slimy stuff is probably just from stomach acid, and I wouldn't worry too much about it.
