hello

we are trying to plan a little family outing over the next few weeks to celebrate our little girls second birthday. we are not looking for a place to have an actual party - we will do that at home. we mainly just want to get our little ones out for the day - do something fun together as a family. It will have to be on a monday or a tuesday because of our schedule...we are kind of new to tx, so we haven't had the chance to 'explore' the area!

(we have heard someone talk about a childrens museum before...can u please give us the name and let us know if this is something a 2 yr old and 5 year old would enjoy together)

all suggestions are welcome and we appreciate your help!

Your children would LOVE the Children's Museum at Fair Park! I also have to recommend the new Giants of the Savanna at the Dallas Zoo. It's hotter than heck out now but if you get there early (it opens at 9) it won't be so bad and your kids can feed giraffes, see some amazing animals, there's a Children's Zoo where they can pet animals, ride a donkey, stuff to play on, etc. You could probably take a DART train from one to the other, hit the zoo in the a.m. and the museum in the afternoon. There's an Imax theater at the museum too...something to think about...
Have fun!

There is a miniature train downtown right by the Ft. Worth Zoo that is really fun. I can't remember the name of it but you'll see it if you turn onto the street off of Trinity that takes you to the zoo. They take cash only. My kids loved it when we lived there. The zoo is also great but it'll be hot. The children's museum is also awesome and they have a free day I think.

The Children's Museum is actually inside The Museum of Nature & Science in Dallas, near Fair Park. (Once you're in the museum, you have to take the elevator down to the children's part.) It's wonderful!! It is geared for Children 7 and under. My 14 month old loves it. I see 5 year olds having a blast there. I would highly recommend!!

The train outside the Ft. Worth Zoo is awesome and cheap. It's only $2-3 a person and they make a pit-stop at trinity park where you can get popcorn and a soda for $1 a piece. It takes about 45 minutes total. The kids love it, just don't sit up at the very front b/c of the stinky train smoke.

The Museum of Science and history is right down the road from the train on Mongomery st. and it's $14 for adults and $10 for kids over 2, so your baby would be free. It's so stinkin' fun for the kids! They have a fossil dig area, construction play, balance beams, pretend centers, animals, etc.

If you want to do something water related, they have great water parks around here for CHEAP! We went to one at Randoll Mill park here in Arlington for $6 a person and they had a great little kids area and it shouldn't be busy on a weekday. Another one we went to was Chisolm trail aquatic center in Hurst and it was really fun too. It was only $4 a person.
There's a splash park in Grand Praire that's only $1. Havn't checked it out yet though.

I'm originally from Roanoke! Oh I miss it there!
Besides the museum, in Lewisville there is a place called Going Bonkers which is a giant indoor play place perfect for babies to adults. Its tons of fun, my daughter always had a blast, plus parents are able to get in the play area and climb and slide too! There is a seperate section for your younger one as well. Not too expensive and its indoors out of the heat, also has free wi-fi.
The Dallas Aquarium is nice too.
