My Aunts are great about putting things together for reunions. I am wanting to have some back up plans for the kids incase they get bored. We have a total of about 15 kiddos under 13. So fun games that don't cost a lot.
HELP...
3 legged race (use old pantyhose to tie legs together)
Wheelbarrow race. (I still remember my dad almost plowing up the ground with my moms face at a family reunion due to his zest for winning!)
German/Polish/Italian/Funky Band. Assemble groups on picnic tables. Each group has a "part": "pee-pee, pee-pee" "poo-poo, poo-poo" "Honk...honk...honk..." "yabba dabba doo", etc. You be the band leader & point to each "section".

fun time! I love family parties! I'm in charge of my reunion ++ I've been doing Halloween parties for my sons for years now. Here's some of the activities:
The Guessing Game: have a couple of jars of candy. Let the kids write down their guess on how many pieces are in each jar. This project costs <$10 for 3 or 4 containers.....making lots of kids happy!
Ball Toss: have a couple of buckets set up in a pyramid pattern. Have the kids toss balls into the buckets to earn points. Offer a prize for achieving a set #.....& a big bag of "penny" candy serves well for prizes.
Pin the Family Tree: make a poster board tree & a bunch of construction paper leaves. Have each family pick a branch & label it. Then the kids have to "pin" the cousin to the right branch. This also works well for the whole group....teaching the kids who goes with who! (cheater tip: I think it's easier to just label the "roots" of the tree myself).
& then there's the classic, some of which have already been mentioned...& a few more: frisbee, washers, the sack races, & any & all water balloons games!
Have fun...

Hi T-
there are two books to get creative juices flowing...they are "New Games" and "More New games"
Both filled with crazy ideas for FUN non competitive games...Used them years ago with college students...and groups of 'youngers' as well for training/workshops.
Have Fun!

I just learned of a fun game, it's probably old, but I just learned and it sounds like a blast! It's a take on hide and seek called Sardines. One child hides and the rest of the group goes to look for them. As soon as you find the one hiding child you climb into their same hiding spot. Everyone continues to do look until everyone is packed in to the same spot. The key is to keep very very quiet so I'm told:)

I was also going to say watermelon seed spitting contest.
If it were me, I'd not organize a lot of games. I'd have a few big beach balls and sidewalk chalk and a bubble-blower in my car ready to go and let the kids have at it.

3 legged races, family sack race, the relay where you have to run circles with your head on the bat and then race to a finish line (make it a relay with 3 teams of 5?) and several that melanie suggested are fun! We always loved kickball if it isn't too hot. Hope y'all have a good time!
