Fundraiser Ideas

I've done a lot of baskets for events and some themes could be a geared toward the kids, lego themed, Star Wars themed, movie nite, watepark passes with goggles and kick boards, etc. Or it can be aimed at the parents -- wine tasting basket, wine with gift cert for dinner out, pampering for mom( mani- pedi, massage, candles,etc).

I am working on my son's school silent auction right now, so theme baskets have been on my mind a lot :)
Some of our themes:
Celebrate a country- All items from a specific country, including things like a book (travel, cookbook, pictures, or language), food items/spices, a map, crafts/cultural items, etc
Romantic dinner- cookbook, CD of romantic music, candlesticks and candles, dinner items like a nice pasta and sauce, bottle of wine, wineglasses, cloth napkins
Organic/farmer's market- handmade soaps, honey, spice mixes, nuts, etc from the farmer's market plus a gift card to buy produce or membership in a co-op.
Craft basket- craft supplies and book/directions to make a craft or a few different ones, age appropriate
Cooking with kids- Kid-geared cookbook, small sized or otherwise kid-safe cooking equipment, dry/nonperishable ingredients for a few recipes
Zoo/safari theme- Tickets to the local zoo, water bottles, snacks, safari theme book, puzzle, etc, explorer hats or toy binoculars

Packets of flowers or vegetables to grow

Small hand shovel (gardening shovel)
all in a large planters box

Movie Night - in a LARGE popcorn bowl
DVDs to family movies
microwave popcorn
candy
two liter bottle of soda

Family Night Game night
Treasure Box
Family games for all ages - variety of games junior monopoly, twister, Candy Land, Hungry Hippo
Card games - Uno, Memory, etc.

We also did one for families with older kids - Catch Phrase, Survivor, Jeopardy!

Another one was an XBOX basket
extra controllers
several "E" rated games
multi-line charger for controllers
The basket held the controllers nicely

Another was a Wii basket
Wii controllers (light sabers, nuks, etc.)
Wii "E" games

We live in a great area, where if you have the letter with the TAX ID number, many companies will give you donations for your basket.

Our local sports stores do things as well
Modells does a sports basket for our league - baseball bat, glove, helmet
Dicks' Sporting goods has done a La Crosse basket - even though it was baseball (trying to encourage more sports)

Our local music store donated free lessons and sheet music

These look fun.

The best one I saw at our school's auction was a BBQ basket (it also fetched the highest price). It had tongs, sauces, rubs and a cookbook. It was packed in a picnic basket.

The way our school set it up was that each class had a theme and asked the parents to donate items related to that theme.

Since it'll be baseball season and folks will be gearing up for summer time, what about something like a pool day/ beach day basket? The "basket" itself could be a cooler or one of those wash-tub style ice buckets. Get some colorful beach towels (fours usually a good number for family stuff) and roll them pretty side out and stand in the bucket. Add some floaty noodles, inflatable inner-tubes, sun block, visors, water bottles and for the big ticket item, a set of passes to the local pool or water park.

Movie baskets are always fun. I might try and get certificates for Redbox or something rather than actually putting the DVDs in so that you don't lose bidders because they don't like/already saw the movies you choose.

A birthday party basket could be cool too. Fill it with all the party supplies plates, cups, napkins, balloons, blowers, hats, favor bags etc., and get in touch with a local party place or bowling alley and get a certificate for a party package... maybe also a certificate for an ice cream cake someplace cool like Coldstone.

Family Game Night, Cooking with Kids, Art and Science (maybe get some passes to a local kid's museum) Summertime Fun (outdoor/beach/pool stuff) Road Trip, Scrapbooking or some other craft theme (?)

Summer fun is a good one. It can include beach towels, movie tickets, passes to a county fair (if you have one), tickets for things like bowling, mini golf, or a local indoor bounce house, sand toys, beach balls, etc.

Date Night - movie tickets, gift card to a nice restaurant, bottle of wine

Pamper Me - bath soaps, mani/pedi or massage gift card, maybe wine again, etc.

Mamazita has some great answers. I LOVE the gardening basket and would bid on it. I almost never bid on these things.

I would check with the minor league baseball team where you live. Maybe they would donate tickets to a game, some stadium snacks and team gear. That would be a fun night out for the family that wins that basket! Good luck!

"A Family Night Out"
Start out w/a gift card to a restaurant & follow it up w/a few games of bowling, a movie, or miniature golf. Whatever you're budget allows enough for. Try to do this w/a family size than 4-6 if possible.

One that always goes over well at our events is a family night basket. Put a stack of games (several ranges so chutes and ladders, uno, headbands etc) some family movies, popcorn, 6pk soda, candy and maybe a gift card for a pizza. They always go over well.

We did one. The Theme was "Stone soup"

It was a huge soup pot, Ladle, 4 pottery Soup bowls, The book "Stone Soup" in Hard cover, A big Stone and beautiful table linens and a generous gift card to a really nice Market. .

Since ours was more of a Fall / Winter event.. I bet a nice Spring /Summer theme would be fun..

Maybe a family camping trip

Entertaining outside..Croquette set, Margarita glasses, Margarita mix, chips, hot sauce, BBQ Sauce, Drink Umbrellas, Cute napkins and paper plates.

Gift Basket of Family events. Family of 4 tickets to the movies, to the skating rink, bowling Alley, Children's Museum, Putt Putt, Ice Cream Parlor. Gift card.

I would even ask business, if they would donate them some of the passes.
