Any ideas where to donate gently used stuffed animals? I have a toybox full of practically new stuffed animals (actually, some are even brand new with tags on!) that my kids have barely touched.
I would call a shelter, there are a lot that have women and children in them and they can't afford to buy their kids those kind of things. I know there is one in Pontiac, I beleive it is a St. Vincent De Paul.

There was a wonderful article in People magazine a few weeks ago about a young girl who solicits donations of toys and stuffed animals to give to young children whose homes have been destroyed by fire or a natural disaster. I believe she lives in Colorado, so you'd have to ship them, but I was impressed with her s**** and I'm sure you could find the contact info via People. I was thinking of going that route myself the next time I do a wholesale clean-out.
In the past, I have boxed/bagged things up and donated them to the Purple Heart. They take toys. I save the brand new ones and donate them to the "Stuff a Bus" toy drive program that 96.3 WDVD does annually Thanksgiving weekend. My sister is the morning show co-host and I know they really appreciate stuffed animals as they really help "stuff" that bus.
Just some thoughts. My kids always seem to have WAY too much in the toy/stuffed animal dept., too, and it feels good to pass them on to someone in need.
What about homeless shelters or the local pediatric ward of a hospital after they have been washed?
I would contact the police or fire departments in or around your area.Maybe childrens hospitals too.
i have heard some police dept, take stuff animal donations to comfort kids that have been in car accidents check with your local depts....

Check with your local fire and police departments and ask if they accept donations. Police and fire personnel usually keep some on hand in their truck/car when they go to a call so that they can give it to a child during a troubling incident (fire, etc).
