I was burning a candle and went to pick it up to see if it was out and when I picked the glass container up the glass broke in half and the candle wax got all over the carpet. Of course, the wax is now stuck to the carpet. What have you used to get the wax out of carpet. My carpet is beige and the wax is lavender so you can see it.
Thank you for all of your responses. Wow, I can't believe that using an iron and a paper bag really works, but it did!!!! After reading all of the responses as soon as I got home tonight I tried it and was just amazed. Thank you so much for the information. The lavender color even came out so I won't need to use any carpet cleaner. Yeah!!!!

That happened to me too! What I did that worked was take paper towels in a single layer and put an iron on a medium setting, not too hot tho. Put the paper towel over the wax and gently run the iron over the spot and keep using the paper towels until it disappears. Worked like a charm for me. Good luck and keep us posted!!!

I have been told if you use a clothes iron heated up and put wax paper over the spilled waxed and it should heat up enough and go on the wax paper.
I hope it works

Put a paper bag over the wax and an iron on top of it. Move the iron around as if you were ironing the carpet. The wax will dissolve into the paper bag. Good luck!

Put a brown paper bag on the spot and a warm iron over the bag. It will melt the wax and the paper bag will absorb it. Make sure to move the paper around, too, so it doesn't get too saturated and can really absorb. Always works for me, hope it works for you!

Try using an iron and a paper bag - the paper bag will soak up the wax when the iron heats it. This happened to me a few years ago and just this weekend on a table cloth - try getting the majority of the wax off first with your hands (scraping) then the iron. Good luck!

Place paper towel on top of spilled wax, then heat iron to wool setting, and slowly iron back and forth until the wax melts. Whatever doesn't come up into the paper towel. Put ice on until hardened again, then try to scrape up with a butter knife gently. It should work to where there isn't anything too obvious left.
Good luck!

I used to sell Partylite candles and this is what we were told and it works. let the wax harden, then chip away the big pieces. When the large pieces are gone and all that's left is the stuff adhered to the carpet, get alot of brown paper bags and an iron. Heat the iron and tear the bags into strips. Put a strip on the affected area of the carpet and iron over it. the wax will start to melt and will be absorbed by the brown paper. You have to keep changing the bag strips to fresh ones. This will take some time. Once all the wax is removed, you can use a carpet cleaner to help remove any color left. Hope this helps

Get an old towel and your iron. Put the towel down and place a hot iron over the wax and let it heat up and re-melt---then blot with the towel. I got maroon wax out of cream carpet (atleast the bulk majority of it--we can't expect perfection! :) ) Hope this helps.

Put a white cotton wash cloth over it, then heat up your iron and press it lightly over washcloth and the candle wax. It should melt it and pull it off the carpet.

I got redish wax on my carpet once and was able to get most of it out. What I did was take a brown paper bag (you may need more than one) and then take your iron and put it on a lower setting ....put the bag over the wax and iron it...the paper will "absorb" a lot of the wax.

Hi L.. I've put a towel over the wax, then ironed over the towel. Most of the wax will soak up into the towel. Then to get the stain out, you can use any carpet stain remover, like resolve. Good luck!

This happened to me just last year with a navy blue three wick candle that had been burning for hours (a lot of melted wax onto off white carpet. I got every spec out of the carpet using the paper towel/iron remedy. There was not even a stain on the carpet because the coloring was in the candle wax and I got all the wax out. It did take a whole roll of paper towels and a l-o-n-g time. BUT IT WORKED GREAT ! ! ! ! ! !

You'll want to get a rag ( I personally like a bounty paper towel better) and your iron. Put the rag on top of the wax and with the heated iron ( not too hot) just keep putting a clean area of the rag and the wax will absorb into it.
I would be surprised if the color stays, if it does, contact me back and I'll tell you the next step to get the color out.

I have not done this in the past but a lot of people have recommended it. Take a piece of a brown paper bag and place it on the wax. Then use a warm iron and iron the spot so the wax heats up and sticks to the brown paper bag instead of the rug.
Not sure if it works but it's worth a try.
Good luck,
C.

I sell PartyLite candles and I have this questioned asked many times. Get a brown paper bag, lay it flat over the wax, and then iron over it with an iron. The heat from the iron will transfer the wax from your carpet to the paper bag. Just make sure the bag is plain, and not from a store that has writing or ink on it.

Wet an old washcloth and place it on top of the wax then iron it with medium heat. The wax magically sticks to the washcloth and is removed from the carpet.

I, too, am a PartyLite consultant. The brown paper bag and iron method works the best, as I've had many customers spill wax on their carpet and have used a variety of methods. You should be able to remove all of the wax, but it will take a while (depending on the size of the spot it could take several hours).
Good luck!

Hello there, you probably already got all the advice you need, but this is what I did when it happened to me. I was told to get my iron out and some brown paper bag. I placed the brown paper down on the wax and held the iron on it for a few seconds. The paper soaked up the wax and even the color. THey said some colors won't come out, depending on the dyes. But, this one did. Hope yours comes up well too!

This has happened to me so many times! I just used an old towel (it will end up being garbage) and an iron (medium-low heat I would say) Put the towel over the wax and place the iron on that and it **should** pull the wax (including all the color) up onto the towel. Probably try just a tiny spot first to make sure it works, but I was able to get dark blue and dark purple wax out of off-white carpet with no marks. Good luck!!! And remember - don't put the iron on the carpet. Depending on what kind it is, it can melt the fibers!

As already mentioned, the paper/iron method is very efficient. You don't need a brown paper bag though, any thin paper will do the job. I used to work for a hotel and that's how we cleaned the wax from the guest rooms!
Sally's technique will work. Although, I used paper towels and an iron, but the result should be the same. It will come out, just do a little at a time.

Hi L.,
A similar thing happened to me a few years ago in the school where I worked. Put either paper towels or a single layer of brown paper (from a paper bag) down to cover the area with the wax. Using a hot iron, iron the entire area over the bag/paper towels. The wax should come off on the paper! It really works!
Best of luck,
R.

Maybe you've tried this old trick.....turn on your iron, take a brown paper bag lay it over the wax and iron it out. I have tried this and it does take some of the wax up, not all of it but it was the best thing I came across. You may even try using a papertowel or two instead of the brown paper bag. Good luck!!

I did this once. Paper bag and warm iron. It takes time and LOTS of paper, but the warm iron melts the wax on to the paper and off the carpet. If the iron is too hot, you might hurt the carpet so be careful...only warm enough to make the wax soft. And once there is wax on the paper you have to use fresh paper so that you are not putting the wax back on. Best to use small peices of paper and discard...pieces the size of the iron are helpful to not get wax on your iron and not waste paper....that is the worst!!! GOOD LUCK~
