My son is almost a month and I need to incorporate the bottle, any tips. I tried having my husband give it to him last night. He started to take it then ended up with a two hour colic crying spell. Guess we will try again tonight and I'm going to try a different nipple??????
The only bottle that did not give my baby gas was & stillis-she is 16 months- the playtex drop in system. I had the the born free & another high priced supposed colic reducing bottles but finally listened to multiple suggestions to try the playtex drop in system & once I did the results were immediate. I felt so bad that it took me a few weeks to accept it was the bottles I had & to buy what keep being suggested. Good luck
Have you tried the bottles that are shaped like a boob? They are supposed to be the closest you can get. Both of my kids liked the Playtex nursers and I liked them because I could push the air out of them causing less gas for my little ones.
Here are a few tricks I remember. Have someone else give the baby the bottle. Have them try to feed them in an area different from where you nurse. Try to leave the house while the baby feeds if you can... if the baby sees or smells you they will not want a bottle. And it's also harder for you to listen to them cry and tempting to go ahead and nurse.
Don't worry our baby will take a bottle when he is hungry enough!
I also agree with the advice in regards to trying out the Playtex bottles. I used both the Playtex Drop-In Nursers as well as the Playtex Ventair bottles and they bothed worked great. My oldest daughter would not take any other brand of bottles. Oh, except for the Advent but it made her colicky. The playtex bottles are great. My Kaiser breastfeeding class Instructor even recommeded them.
We tried a couple of different nipples and found one he liked. Also try it when you are not around, for sure out of the room and maybe even out of the house. I've also read that sometimes sitting him in a bouncy seat, or holding him sitting away from you and then giving the bottle from behind. Good luck!

A few things we tried that seemed to work:
1. The brownish nipples...from Gerber...most similar in texture and softness to a real nipple.
2. Good start formula...its mild and tastes and smells the most like breastmilk.
3. Our baby liked it HOT....like hotter than I would ever imagine giving a baby...just under scolding...sounds crazy, but it worked.
4. Glass bottles - holds the heat the best which was great for a hot bottle liker!
***Don't worry, your baby WILL eat when hungry...it will come, just be patient! : - )
