Hi mamas out there!!! My 8 month old son had to transition from breastmilk to formula (returning to work has greatly decreased my supply, sadly, and I am dealing with the disappointment of it - luckily I am still able to nurse him in the early morning and evenings - the best parts of my day). As a result, it had turned him into quite the little spit up monster. We have found a formula that works better for him and the spitting up has decreased greatly (thank goodness!!!). My question though is what do you use to clean it up? I know it sounds like a silly question, but sometimes it is just a little spot - on the bottom of his pants, a blanket or the carpet. But oohh the smell!!!Any ideas for a quick clean up would be great!!!! Thanks moms!!! You gals are awesome!!!
Baby wipes works wonders and will get out most stains - even adults stains. I'll never go anywhere without them again! LOL But I like the Totally Toddler. I would spray it on the clothes and if I wasn't ready to wash them, ball them up tightly and put in the laundry for later. It still worked!
Baby wipes! They work wonders! It won't work for a huge spot, but it will work for a small spot. My daughter was a spitter too and baby wipes saved my life, not to mention several of my shirts! They are also really great for removing lots of types of small stains. If there is a ton of spit up, make sure to soak the clothes immediately in some detergent (just a tiny bit).
Also, burping more often will help the spit up. Babies get formula out of a bottle a lot faster than breast milk out of a breast. They also gulp lots more air. We found that burping after every two ounces and keeping her upright for about 30 mins after feeding greatly reduced the spit up. Maybe that would work for your little guy too.
If you're looking for stains out, try IMMACU-10. ENZYME based, not chemical. I use it for everything. If the stain is on something white or off white, might try peroxide. I use it on dish rags, etc., as well as my teeth, for whitening. You cannot buy IMMACU-10 in stores and if you are in the Fishers area, I have product.
I'm a HUGE fan of Totally Toddler. Also enzyme based stain remover. You generally can find it in Meijer in the baby section, not the laundry section. I've also seen it at Walmart on occasion.
Damp cloth with a little white vinegar. It not only takes out the smell but the stain/discoloration as well.
S., I have found that wet wipes by will get those small stains out and take away that sour swell.

Like a lot of people here, I used baby wipes ASAP. They worked wonders. I also like Dreft stain remover in a spray bottle. My kids are now 5 and 9 and I still buy the stuff-it's that good! It also helps to put OxyClean in with your loads of wash-I buy the no dye, no scent formula. I use that when I know things are in that load with stains. I washed a brand new expensive pair of khakis once with an ink pen that I didn't know about. The pants came out covered in ink. I rewashed with oxyclean and the ink was all gone.
if it is on clothes, I always use powder cascade in with the regular wash......works wonders!
I know this will sound crazy but I use their baby wipes that I use on their bottoms. I use it for everything. Case in point my little guy got grape popsicle on our chair and I used the baby wipes and it came up. Go figure. But I used it on the spit up on my clothes b/c it was with me in my diaper bag and it got the smell out which I thought was awesome. Hope the transition goes well. ~J.
Try Bizz. It got out stains in my husband's baby clothes that were 25+ years old!
What I've found that works really well for stains is the oxyclean stain removal spray - it even gets out poopy stains. It's small and portable so you can keep in your diaper bag also.
Another thing that I do, is keep a little tub of water in the laundry room with a scoop of oxy clean powder and put stain clothes in there to soak, its been a good short cut for me.

I'm having my first and have been hitting Good Will stores and picking up cheap clothes with stains because I know that my Shaklee products will get them out. A little bit of Basic H2 and their Nature Bright will get just about any stain out on anything type of surface. I haven't bought cleaning products in two years because I use them on everything - clothes, carpet, dusting, mopping, counters, bathrooms, everything.
