Hi! I have 2 little kids, and my husband and I have always thought of having 3. So, we starting trying after my daughter (the 2nd child) was about 6mos since I am almost 35 and wanted to have all our kids before getting too much older. I was and am still nursing, but have had my period for about 8mos now. We have been trying all this time with no luck. The past 3 months I have used an ovulation test and we have still had no luck. Our first 2 only took 1-2mos of trying. I'm getting nervous that I am no longer ovulating or something. My Dr won't see me until I am completely done nursing and my daughter still nurses 1x a day, which I read should have no impact on fertility. Anyone else go through something like this/advice? Thank you!

Thought I would add, I got pregnant with our second while breastfeeding our son 4x/day. I'm going to be fully done weaning in about a couple weeks.

What can I do next?

Is your daughter over one? Would weening her off that last feeding be an option?

Breastfeeding is important, so I think you should wait. Diet, anxiety and age play a factor. Intercourse should be every other day for maximum potency. Relax. The body should take a rest between children. It will happen.

Dear Anne,

I'm also 35 and we're trying for number 2 ...with no luck so far. I got pregnant so easily with our first. I'm nursing my baby about three to five times in a 24 hour period, and have had my period back since August. I can't offer any advice but will be curious to read the responses...just wanted you to know you're not alone!!!

Some people just need to wait till they are done breastfeeding, their bodies aren't ready. I'm sure that your doc won't see you because the only intervention he could do would be Rx related, and you can't do that while breastfeeding. Good luck.

It takes the average person 3-6 months to get pregnant, but if your under 35 most dr won't see you fertility issues until you've been trying for a year (six months after you turn 35). Did you get a positive on the ovulation kits? You should have sex the day you get the positive and the two following days and any other time of the month you want to :0) you should also be sure to hold your pee for 4 hours before you take the test and take it after noon. Ive been trying for our second child for almost 2 years with 2 miscarriages. I will be happy to share any info I've found if you want to pm me. I can post it here but then I come across as a crazy TTC lady :0)
Best of luck!
