Getting Pregnant on Birth Control Pills?!?

I was just wondering if any of you have had a similar experience, or have heard of this happening before....

After my first son was born, my OB put me on Micronor bc pills, since I was nursing him. When he was 8 months old, I found out I was pregnant again! And, yes, I was very diligent about taking my bc pill, so it wasn't like I had missed doses or anything like that. I figured I was just one of those lucky few that things like that happened to...

Now, after having my second son, my OB put me on Micronor again. (FYI, I saw a different OB this second time around.) However, this OB told me that I need to be careful being on the Micronor, because if my breastfeeding drops below 80% then there's a chance I might get pregnant! I had never heard of this before, but if true...it certainly explains why I got pregnant a second time! (I was nursing my first son about 60% of the time when I got pregnant.)

Have any of you heard of this before?

What can I do next?

Hi R.!
I got pregnant while taking the same birth control and while breast feeding my son. My dr had told me that it is only 80% effected if i was nursing 70% of the time. Welll..... i was weaning him, he was 15 months and i had made a dr's appointment to get new b.c. but it was too late i was already pregnant! lol
So yes i have heard that. Now i have a 7 month old darling little girl and we are being SUPER careful even though i am still exculsivly BF her.
So yea.... its true! (i was also really good at taking B.C.!)
:)

I don't know about that specific BCP but i do know of a woman who got pregnant with all three of her children while on three different birth control pills. Nothing is fool proof except abstinence!

Yes...micronor is a mini-pill which has less hormones. If you are not almost exclusively breastfeeding you can become pregnant again

No BC is perfect. You can pregnant on any form, except no sex, and being fixed. Although, even then there could still be chances for getting pregnant. The type of pills they give you when you are breastfeeding, do not have both hormones in it. Some might, but it's still to low to really protect you well.
