My son just turned 3 and he just had his tonsils taken out. I was advised by his doctor that he was NOT to be sick on the day of the surgery or they would cancel. I, luckily, am staying at home right now so I just chose to keep him away from places that are "germy" for a week before his surgery. If you daughter goes to daycare, my suggestion would be to go to the Vitamin Shoppe and get some echnecia drops and give those to her daily a week before her surgery. It doesn't taste great but it is one of those things that you may just have to hold her down and force her to take. I also got zinc losenges from Walgreens and would break one of those up in my mouth and give him a few chuncks of those daily. He was as healthy as could be on the day of the surgery. Again, if you have the option of keeping her at home then I just would not take her anywhere for a week before the surgery. Even if you go to the grocery store, keep her in a stroller and don't let her touch anything.
