I would be happy to do this for you. Are you looking for only fun stuff or supportive things also? I love doing custom gift baskets.

When I was in college, I loved to get candy and other snacks that I could share with friends, maybe a magazine that she likes to read, a funny picture from home or a gift card to a local place to eat. Anything that you send will be a treat to get in the mail!

It would be really special if you put something together yourself and sent it to her. YOU know all the little things she would like for comfort probably better than anyone. Get a basket, collect a few things that would remind her of home and less stressful times...maybe with a little encouraging note attached to each thing....bubblebath, a favorite snack, hot chocolate, candles, somoe comfort food. If you put your own personal touch to it, it will mean so much more to her. (mother of 3 grown girls) Have fun!!

My dad used to send flowers and a card with a $10 for pizza. My roomate's mom would send homebaked cookies. When my brother-in-law went off to college we would send him funny things from the $1 store.

If you are talking about Hope College, B. S. nailed it! Hope does a great job putting together packages. If you don't want to go through the college, you can use any store on 8th street and they probably would all deliver to door. Pretty much any business that is around the college is very familiar with delivery to dorms:) Have fun with it, your kid will love to get a package!

A "care package" is a great way to tell your college student that you love them and support their efforts. I made them for both my kids when they were away at school and also for a few of their friends that needed some extra attention. I think there are several companies that make them up (google college care packages) but I liked to make them myself to include their favorites (candy, cookies, etc.) I also included some school supplies, like index cards, new highlighters, a starbucks gift card and some personal notes. I also included a list of study habits that we got at freshmen orientation. I also made up little theme boxes for Halloween and Valentines Day also. I used to buy things for the goody boxes as I saw them so it wasn't such a big deal to get them assembled. However, you do it, make sure they get a note from you!

M., are you refering to Hope College in Holland, MI? If so, this will be fun and easy for you to take care of. Hope College Catering can put together a fun gift basket in many themes, or you can customize with them as well. They aren't that expensive either. I was a student at Hope a few years back, and gift packages...whether purchased through the school or made by my mom always made me smile...and everyone was quite jealous. Something cute my mom would do...she would theme gift packages by color...so for Valentine's Day, I would get a box and everything inside would be red...snacks, socks, pens, post its, kool-ade, green for St. Pats, Blue for Easter...I really looked forward to these. If you want to order through Hope, call ###-###-####. Good luck!

College students LOVE to get mail, no matter what it is! Just grab a box and head to the store. fill it with her fave stuff, like gum, candy, goodies, etc. anything she likes. also, include her fave hair products, tampons, contact solutions, razors, loofas, etc. these are expensive for a college student. include things to put in her room, like knick knacks, or other things she might like.

also, don't just stick to one package. if you see a little something she might like when you're out, get it and send it or save for the next box. if you see an article in a paper or magazine she might like, drop it in an envelope and send it. even a card or old picture will be nice for her to receive. or, if you're stopping for lunch and thinking of her, pick up a $5 gift card and send it (as long as they have that place near her). that way she could pick up lunch or a starbucks, whatever!

i think something personalized would be better. it will let her know you're thinking of her, and remind her of you and home. if someone else puts the basket together, it may not include the things she likes.

I would put a personal box together yourself. You know the things she enjoys eating, drinking and wanting. I have done that when my daughter was in France. It was costly, but she loved it. I also did it for my son at the Naval Academy. He was delighted. It does not cost that much in the states to send something. Weekly cards are also a wanted thing.

You might want to do a web search - it seems like I found an online company that would create a basket and then deliver it. Another suggestion would be to call the school (either admissions or college services) and see if they have a list of businesses near the college that would be able to do baskets and deliver. I went to Davenport, and every year around exam time they would do something for the students in the dorms.

If you were to create your own and mail/ship it to her, just think about what she likes - hot cocoa, tea, candy, chips, favorite author, favorite musician. Once you think of those, then make a basket of what she likes. Include a special bubble bath/bath salt and maybe some lotion and there you go.

Hi M.!
If you're refering to Hope College in Holland, my sister goes there and loves the coffee shop Lemonjellos. If your daughter likes coffee, you might contact them and see if they do deliveries of items or even look into including a gift card from them in your package. I agree with all of the other responses; packages, no matter what, are great to receive when you're at school! Good luck and Go Dutch! :)
